There is still a lot of things to be sorted out with The Mtn. closes their doors, but here is a statement by Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson:
"This is simply one step in the ongoing, evolutionary process which is focused on developing a new organization and structure. The goals continue to be creating greater stability, broader exposure platforms and increased revenue and we are progressing in each of those areas with the appropriate parties."
Sounds like this was a step that had to be taken in order to move forward with the alliance with Conference USA, but saying it can create greater stability seems odd because there will be a ton of teams that will wish they had the Mtn. on the air for football season. I guess when Thompson mentions platform he is referring to having games to be shown online or on some sort of tablet or phone device, which is not available at the moment.
