The Air Force Falcons have scheduled a 2 p.m. (MT) press conference to announce that head basketball coach Jeff Reynolds will be relieved of his duties, according to Frank Schwab of the Colorado Springs Gazette. Assistant coach Dave Pilipovich will take over for Reynolds as the interim coach for the rest of the season. Air Force started the season well with an 11-4 record, but they have lost six in a row.

While Air Force nearly upset then-No. 12 UNLV they were blown out by Colorado State by 18 points and 39 points to New Mexico in their last two games. During the Colorado State loss, Reynolds lost his temper and was elected by getting his second technical.

Reynolds as had only one winning season coming in this year. His first year was 2007-08 where he led the Falcons to a 16-14 finish. The team then proceeded to go 10-21 in each of the following two season and was 16-16 in the current 2010-11 season.

I wonder if expectations are too high at Air Force, because they have not been a good team since the 2005-07 seasons. In the 2005-06 season Air Force made the NCAA tournament and in the 2006-07 they made it to the NIT semifinals, but since then they have been average on a good year.
