If what i have heard on this is true, the Presidents of the member institutions refused to extend his contract, because they held him responsible for the BSU defection last year. In my personal opinion, that would be a significant sign of denial (which ain’t just a river in Egypt) by the presidents. Holding CT responsible for the fiasco of his pet project, the Mtn. is one thing. Holding Benson responsible for the Broncos, et al, defecting for more money is another thing entirely.

Looks like he’ll pick up whatever is left over, after the merger and expansion candidates are announced. Maybe that was the plan all along, to give the Idaho’s and NMSU’s a place to go when the music stops playing they were left with no chairs.
