Poinsettia Bowl score update: San Diego State leads BYU after 1st quarter, 3-0

San Diego State has the only points after one quarter, and leads BYU 3-0.

Heading into this game it was known that offense would be at a premium, and after the first quarter it is the San Diego St. Aztecs who are leading BYU 3-0 after the first quarter of the Poinsettia Bowl.

The lone points came on a chip shot, 27-yard field goal by Chance Marden. BYU's defense was able to hold the Aztecs from getting in the end zone on that scoring drive. San Diego State elected to throw the ball three times, and for some reason did not give running back Adam Muema the ball at all. Muema has already rushed for 55 yards in the first quarter which is a shock since BYU's rush defense has been so good.

BYU quarterback James Lark, who is starting for the injured Riley Nelson, has been decent with 26 yards on 5 of 8 passing. While Aztecs quarterback Adam Dingwell nearly threw for 100 yards in the first quarter. It is looking like this BYU defense is not off to a good start, and San Diego State needs to take advantage of this.
