Syracuse vs. San Diego State: Game moved to Sunday due to chance of rain

Donald Miralle

San Diego State and Syracuse's game on the USS Midway has been moved to Sunday night at 4 p.m. ET.

The much anticipated game on the USS Midway between the San Diego St. Aztecs and Syracuse Orange, was nearly moved in doors due to a chance of rain on Friday Nov. 9. San Diego rarely gets any rain throughout the year, and the day they are to have an amazing event there is a good chance of rain, as well as wind gusts around 30 mph.

The game had a backup plan of being moved indoors and played at Valley View Casino Center, however there were be a lot of issues with moving the game indoors. People wanted to be at the game probably more because of the location, than to see these two teams.

Instead of the game being played indoors, the game will be pushed back a few days and will be played on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET. This is the best solution since Sunday is actually Veterans Day, and there will be a lot of armed forces personnel in the stands.

The game is still scheduled to be broadcast on Fox Sports, but now it will have to deal with the NFL to get eyeballs on this game. Had it been Friday night as planned, the game would have been the event of the night.

Moving the game to Sunday is causing San Diego State to adjust their schedule. The Aztecs were to open the season at home on Sunday against San Diego Christian, but that game is now in the progress of being moved from Sunday to Tuesday.
