BYU, San Diego State, Boise State deny contact with Mountain West

All three schools: Boise State, BYU and San Diego State have denied contacting the Mountain West in regards to returning to the league.

As soon as the report from ESPN's Brett McMurphy came out saying that BYU, Boise State and San Diego State have been in contact with the Mountain West, all three schools have issued denials.

That is not a surprise at all, and San Diego State athletic director Jim Sterk reiterated that to the San Diego Union-Tribune:

"I have not spoken to the (Mountain West) commissioner since May, and there's been no communication with them," Sterk said. "Our president has just been on a call with Boise State, and they haven't had any communication with the Mountain West either, and the president at BYU hasn't had communications with them either."

This is not a shock that all the schools would be denying that they have spoken with the Mountain West. However, Sterk also mentioned that the Big East will be in a better spot than they are with Rutgers leaving. Plus, he also said that the Big East would pick up a Western school, and that likely would be BYU, Air Force and possibly even UNLV or Nevada.

Or maybe it all just went down like this:
