Thearon W. Henderson

Time to take a look at the five games on the Week 9 Mountain West football slate.

There are five Mountain West football games this week, including a Friday night tilt between the Nevada Wofpack and Air Force Falcons. Plus, this week had all 10 teams in action with five conference games. The only game that will be difficult to see is the UNLV vs. San Diego State matchup, since it is on the new Time Warner regional sports channel.

First as always, here is the schedule:

The Nevada vs. Air Force game is intriguing, since the Falcons have seemed to turn it around somewhat as they are 3-1 in conference play. However, their success depends on if star running back Cody Getz plays this week, he left last weeks game against New Mexico with an ankle injury, one that has been bothering him for a few weeks.

Boise State at Wyoming has some interest, because Dave Christensen will not be on the sideline due to being suspended, he will be replaced by offensive line coach Pete Kaligis. Two things I want to see: Can Boise State rack up some points against a poor Wyoming defense, and second can Boise State put up some big offensive numbers again.

Fresno State at New Mexico famously had the odds switched around in favor of the Lobos, but can New Mexico really pull off an upset. Look for the Lobos running attack to give Fresno State some fits, but they will not allow a lot of points.

Hawaii vs. Colorado State, well, um, there is some intrigue as the Rams have decided to go with Conner Smith as their starting quarterback. He will be the third signal-caller to go under center this year.

UNLV at San Diego State, basically can Adam Dingwell get the anticipated win over UNLV, plus we will see if the Rebels passing game, led by Nick Sherry, is able to have success in the air.
