After a strong start to the season, Air Force running back Cody Getz has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list

Air Force Falcons starting running back Cody Getz has had a better season than anyone could have expected. His success running the ball has been noticed as he has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, this award goes to the nation's top running back.

Getz currently leads the nation in yards per game with 177.4, he has rushed over 100 yards in all five of his games this season and has had three games of over 200 yards. Plus, he has eight touchdowns and is averaging 7.91 yards per carry.

All of those numbers are definitely worthy of making this watch list. Not sure if Getz can win, but if he can keep his average above the 150 mark and possibly get another 200 yard rushing performance then he should at a minimum be a finalist.

Getz will have a few more chances to possibly crack the 200-yard mark. He still has games against Hawaii and Army, both of those schools are ranked 100th or worse in rushing yards per game.
