Just before Thanksgiving, USC Trojans running back Dillon Baxter announced he was transferring, and one of his possible destinations was San Diego State. There is a blurb in an article that was mainly about Ronnie Hillman entering the NFL Draft that mentioned former five-star recruit Baxter would be transferring to San Diego State
Beyond that, former USC running back Dillon Baxter wants to transfer to SDSU and hopes to make it official by having his academics cleared by SDSU admissions. If he transfers, he will sit out the 2012 season under NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility remaining after that.
If this report is true then San Diego State may have solved their running back problems, well until 2012. However, Baxter was no saint at USC as he was suspended for the 2011 season opener for violating team rules.
Baxter was also was suspended briefly when he took a golf cart ride with a certified agent who was a freshman at USC and he was suspended for the 2010 opener against Hawai'i for violating curfew and under the influence of a controlled substance which was believed to be marijuana. So, his character is an issue and should be monitored at San Diego State.
