bowl pick'em second round results and third round format

note: with 1:30 remaining in the third quarter and west virginia with the rock and leading clemson 63 to 26, i'm going to go out on a limb and publish these results. if the tigers come back to win, i'll repost the results after i get over the shock of the biggest bowl game comeback ever.

well, i pretty much owned the bowl season pick'em second round. the only game i missed was the rose bowl and had wisconsin's quarterback not thrown a late fourth quarter interception, who knows how that game could have turned out?

anyway, i ended up seven and one. chiefsfan and pack_fan tied for second at five and three each. roflcopter16 overcame a slow start and, despite computer problems and not getting his picks in before the start of the houston/penn st game, recorded a three and four record.

since there were only four contestants for the second round, i'm going to arbitrarily change the game. this next round will be a head to head matchup. i will be the number one seed by virtue of having the best second round record. chiefsfan will be number two since he had the closer tiebreaker guess. pack_fan is number three and roflcopter16 is number four.

it will play out this way...

one versus four and two versus three. head to head. mano a mano. picking these three games:

at&t cotton bowl -- kansas state vs arkansas (pick the final score of this game as the tiebreaker)

bbva compass bowl -- smu vs pittsburgh

godaddy.com bowl -- arkansas st vs northern illinois

the top two will advance to the one game championship picking a winner and guessing the final score of:

the allstate bcs national championship game -- #1 lsu vs #2 alabama.

make all four picks and tiebreaker scores and record them as a comment to this fanpost prior to the start of the cotton bowl on january 6th.

i'll post a short commentary after the godaddy.com bowl and then announce the winner after the lsu-alabama matchup.

whoever ends up on top will receive a genuine paper certificate, suitable for framing, identifying him as the winner of the mountain west connection's 2011-12 national collegiate athletic association football pick'em constest for all his friends and family to drool over and envy. it will be printed with proper capitalization, punctuation and everything and mailed first class to the winner.

thanks for playing and good luck!
