College Basketball Rankings: UNLV No. 12, San Diego State No. 22

UNLV has been a big surprise this year by knocking of former No. 1 North Carolina to landing Pitt transfer Khem Birch and now they are ranked No. 12 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. This Saturday they take on San Diego State who is ranked No. 22 in both polls and will be one of the marquee matchups of college hoops. That game will be an early indicator of who will be the team to beat in the Mountain West.

New Mexico is also in the hunt to be ranked in both polls and are sitting just on the outside of each poll.

See both polls after the jump.

Great season to be part of the MWC (in bball)

I think Boise is pretty excited to host a team of UNLV’s caliber this month. BSU should be defending a 16 game home winning streak by that game. Sadly, it will come to an end there lol

UNLV is the better team.

But I wouldn’t rule out a home upset for BSU. UNLV will lose some games they’re supposed to win.

Chiefs D held Raiders, Bears, Packers and Broncos to their lowest point outputs of the season. #RAC

This UNLV team has not been such a team.

They have won the games they are supposed to win this season. Usually they have one or two bonehead losses that could have been easily avoided but thus far have successfully avoided that. I think they are pretty level headed.

Mathis is finally gone. Only good things can happen now.

i'm very impressed what unlv has done so far this season.

Public Enemy #1 and enjoying every minute of it. Tapology. Peace.
