2011 Mountain West Baseball Tournament Update: TCU Falls To Six Seeded New Mexico

The No. 6 seeded New Mexico Lobos are making a run in the Mountain West baseball tournament as they have upset No. 3 seeded BYU and now they defeated top seeded TCU 4-3. In other action Utah took out host San Diego State 7-3 and sent the Aztecs to the losers bracket. The other game had BYU sending home UNLV by defeating them 5-1.

With TCU losing to New Mexico their chances of hosting a regional and possibly even a super-regional round have been diminished by losing to New Mexico, but the Horned Frogs can rebound to regain solid footing by winning the Mountain West tournament.

Here is today's schedule and the loser of BYU vs. San Diego State is out of the tournament.

No. 3 BYU vs. No. 4 San Diego State 11 a.m. PT TV: CBS Sports and The Mtn.

Winner of BYU/San Diego State vs. No. 1 TCU 3 p.m. PT TV: CBS Sports and The Mtn.

No. 2 Utah vs. No. 6 New Mexico 7 p.m. PT TV: CBS Sports and The Mtn.

i'm glad utah won and hope the win it. they would goto college world series if they win it?

the tourney.

Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". He is too scared to fight the real P4P champion. Nick Diaz, the man who will prove to the MMA world that he is the best WW in the world. Still public enemy #1 and enjoying every minute of it.

they should get in

Hosting a regional round (first round )and a super regional (second round) would be in jeopardy if TCU does not win the tournament.

are you going to do an article on usc’s appeal being denied and it’s ramifications for their football program.

TCU

TCU is already assured of an at large berth regardless. But their hosting possibility took a big hit yesterday. If they lose again they likely fall to being a 2 seed in one of the 16 regionals rather than a 1 seed and host.

Even without another loss that’s a possibility because Mew Mexicos RPI is so bad even a win yesterday would have lowered their RPI and you can imagine what a loss did.

Ron Washington...giving hope everywhere to the kids who eat lead paint chips of being a big league manager when they grow up since 2007.
