Dr. James Andrews gives TCU pitcher Matt Purke a clean bill of health

TCU sophomore pitcher Matt Purke is likely to miss the next two to three weeks with soreness and inflammation in his throwing shoulder, but has no injury, according to several sources close to the team. Renowned shoulder specialist Dr. James Andrews examined Purke April 20 after the left-hander felt pain during a start at San Diego State on April 16. TCU released a statement Thursday that cited portions of Andrews' report. "We certainly don't have any reservations recommending him for being drafted as a professional," the statement says Andrews wrote in his report sent to major league teams. "His prognosis looks good and he should respond to a minimum period of active rest and conservative treatment to get his shoulder built back up."
