UNLV was not the only Mountain West team to lose in post season play Friday night.  The Falcons also lost to Santa Clara in the second round of the CollegeInsider.Com Post-season tournament.  Air Force senior Derek Brooks played hard and kept the Falcons in the game with a total of 14 points, but fouled out with 10 minutes left to go on the clock.  Senior Evan Washington added 12 points and three rebounds, but it was sophomore Michael Lyons who led the Falcons with 24 points, going 8-of-13 from the field.

The Falcons kept it close in the first half, and in the first minutes of the second half cut Santa Clara's lead to four points.  But once the California team started gaining momentum, the Air Force defenders were no match for Santa Clara.  SCU's point guard Kevin Foster hit nine 3-pointers and broke the West Coast Conference single-season record for 3-pointers that had stood for more than 20 years.  It was shooting like that defeated the Falcons by a score of 88-75.

The Falcons appearance in the CIT marked only the sixth time in program history that Air Force was in a post-season tournament. The Falcons' last tourney was in the 2007 where Air Force advanced to the NIT Final Four. The Falcons finish the 2010-11 season with a 16-16 record.
