BYU takes on TCU in the first matchup in the Mountain West quarterfinals this afternoon in Las Vegas. TCU was able to get past Wyoming by having four different Horned Frogs score in double-digits. TCU will need a performance like that again and possibly even more to be able to keep up with BYU. Plus, TCU would need to hope for BYU to go stone cold in the shooting the ball.
The last time these two teams played BYU had no trouble with TCU, and even without Brandon Davies BYU should be able to run out to an early lead and put away TCU early, so that they can rest Jimmer Fredette, Jackson Emery and others. One thing to watch in this game is to see if BYU will reveal a new style of offense by going with a smaller line up and force the tempo even more. BYU will not have to do that against TCU, so BYU may just trot out James Anderson in place of Davies in this game. Besides BYU possibly changing their offense a bit to adjust not having the Davies, the only item of interest in this game will be if Brandon Davies is going to be on the BYU bench, but that is expected to happen.
