College baseball is not something that is covered all that much here on the site, but I am going to give it a try this year. The Mountain West had a star pitcher in San Diego State's Stephen Strasburg, and now another star pitcher is in the league with TCU's Matt Purke.

He bypassed joining the Texas Rangers straight out of high school when he was drafted 14th overall so that he could join TCU. He was the top recruit coming out of high school and was named to multiple All-American teams as well as freshman of year as he went 16-0 and took TCU the College World Series where they finished fourth.

Purke was named as a first team All-American by Baseball Today and his teammate outfielder Jason Coats was named as a second team All-American. TCU is loaded again this year as they are ranked number one in multiple
publications and are head and shoulders above the rest of the Mountain West. From the preseason rankings they should at least make it to Omaha to the College World Series.
