Fresno State Fires Pat Hill
Bumped to the front page.
Fresno State has just announced they will be firing Pat Hill after his 15th season at Fresno State. The firing comes after Fresno State ended the season 4-9 for only the third losing season of Hill's career. Fans had been calling for his head since early in the season, and Fresno State finally answered.

Fresno State performed far below expectations this season, losing badly several times and nearly being knocked off at home against FCS North Dakota 27-22. They even lost to perennial WAC basement teams New Mexico State and San Jose State. Injuries decimated the defense. By the end of the season, the Bulldogs were starting a converted WR at safety.
One of the reasons those calls were so vociferous was the presence of former standout QB David Carr's younger brother Derek Carr. Between Carr (3544 passing yards, 26 TD, 8 INT - currently 10th in the nation in total passing) , Robbie Rouse (1549 rushing yards - 7th in the nation) and Jalen Saunders (Fred Biletnikoff award watch list, 1065 yards receiving and second in the nation in yards per reception at 21.6) the Bulldogs had no shortage of offensive talent.
The lure of talent like that may be enough to attract a decent head coach, especially as Carr and Saunders are only sophomores.
A press conference is going on right now.

Never seemed to care about conference games,
Teams that had won at least a share of the conference title since Fresno did in ’99:
LT twice
Hawaii once(?)
Nevada twice
Boise 8 times
That’s half the conference. All he ever seemed to care about is OOC games, and Fresno has been terrible since the near win vs USC in ’05 and subsequent loss in Reno the next week.
Go Nevada Wolf Pack!
Here's my thought on Hill
This game right here sums it up.
In 1999, Fresno State was the pick of many to win the WAC. FSU ended up tied for the title (the only title of any kind for Hill), but had the Bulldogs not inexplicably lost to a previously winless SMU team, then Fresno State would have had the WAC title all by itself.
That loss pretty much sums up Pat Hill’s tenure.
Boise loss sent us down.
Had we not lost, we might have gone to a BCS bowl and certainly would not have lost our last 2 and lost to a 7-5 team in a bowl.
Big name but mediocre results
Always seemed to be in the hunt for a conference title and bowl game. But his record in must win games was really poor. Could never close the gap from being good to great. 1 conference title in 15 years and 4-7 in bowl games. I think the time has come to move on… This isn’t to say that Pat Hill’s legacy isn’t something to be celebrated. He has established an identity for a school and has established Fresno a factor in California recruiting.
It didn't help that the university got ahead of itself and prevented him from signing academic non-qualifiers
This exposed his lack of recruiting ability. There’s no shortage of talent in the Valley.
pat hill willl find other employment.
Public Enemy #1 and enjoying every minute of it. Tapology. Peace.
