Rapper, mogul, former good rapper or whatever you want to use to describe Sean "Diddy" Combs he can now also be called a Division I football dad. His sone Justin Combs from Iona Prep out of New Rochelle, N.Y., and has committed to play football for the UCLA Burins, and due to his father's connection sent out a press release saying his son who is a two-star recruit is heading to Westwood:
"Today I am truly blessed and thankful to accept my scholarship and give my full commitment to UCLA. Playing Division I football was a lifelong dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it. I am a living testament that with a strong relationship with God, family, and hard work dreams do come true."
So, you maybe asking what does this have to do with this here site. Well, Combs had a scholarship offer to play cornerback for the Wyoming Cowboys as well as offers from other lower level FBS schools such as UAB, Middle Tennessee State as well as one from Tennessee Tech, Illinois and Iowa. Being a two-star recruit I am sure that Combs was offered by UCLA and probably other schools for the name and not really his ability.
Who knows, maybe Diddy will send a sizable donation to help out with UCLA's coaching search.
However, how awesome would it have been to see Diddy's entourage hanging out on game day in Laramie, Wyo., or see the younger Combs in his Maybach he received on his 16th birthday, and yes it is an extremely expensive and nice car. Just thinking about this makes me chuckle and so wish it could have happened. But who knows how serious he was choosing Wyoming since he did not even take an official visit to Wyoming.
However, when I think if Diddy I always think of this song:
