The San Diego St. Aztecs are possibly going to be without one of their star players this evening when they face the Boise St. Broncos. Running back Ronnie Hillman was listed as questionable earlier in the week, but now he is a game-time decision with his injured ankle.
Hillman was a light participant and practice, but head coach Rocky Long said if this were a championship game that Hillman would suit up and play. With three games left in the season Long does not want to risk injuring Hillman any more by playing him today.
Taking over for Hillman as the starter this week is redshirt freshman Adam Muema, and true freshman Chase Price from will back him up. If Price does see action in this game it would then burn his redshirt for most likely this one game. Depending on Long's strategy it may be in the best interest of the team to have Muema be the starter and let Hillman go about 10 carries -- assuming Hillman's ankle can do that -- to preserve Muema's redshirt year.
Or as I suggested just air it out as much as possible against a Boise State secondary that was burned against TCU. Reading Long's comments it seems unlikely that Hillman will play at all.
