Wyoming quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels announced his intentions to transfer from Wyoming last week and would be heading to a junior college immediately. This leaves the quarterback position at Wyoming wide open between three candidates -- redshirt-freshman Emory Miller Jr., incoming freshman Brett Smith and Adam Pittser -- who have taken zero snaps at the division one level.
So, Wyoming is out of a quality starting quarterback, but the reason for Carta-Samuels to transfer is unknown. However, had he actually spoken to head coach Dave Christensen about his intentions we may have found out why, but instead Carta-Samuels sent a text message to announce he was leaving:
The University of Wyoming's spring practice, which gets under way March 5, went from interesting to very interesting earlier this week when starting junior quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels notified Cowboys head coach Dave Christensen in a TEXT message that he was leaving school.
He most likely sent the text to avoid the awkwardness or follow up questions of telling his coach he was leaving the program, but hey we have all been there and sent that text to avoid any weirdness especially if we were sure we would not bee seeing that person again.
