Mountain West Connection Pick 'Em: Week 4

This is being promoted to the front page from the fanshot section.

Week 3 is in the books, and Week 4 is now here! Starting next week, I'll begin dropping everyone's 2 lowest scores in calculating the winning percentages so we can get a better feel for how the standings are going. In the meantime, I'll be posting the standings as they've been calculated in weeks past. I'm also going to be posting the master spreadsheets for everyone to look at, so they can see exactly how things are being tallied. For instance, those who didn't play at all in a given week (many of whom include Week 1), I haven't calculated their non-score into their total yet, as that's a guaranteed drop week. For everyone else, I'll be able to get a better grasp of their lowest scores as the contest moves forward. For example, norcaliangelsfan, rebelfan1, WolfPackNev, and myself have been playing every week, so our percentages look out of whack compared to everyone else. Likewise, Jeremy Mauss somehow only picked in 6 games last week (I'm assuming it was a typo or pasting error), so his percentage looks off as well. For those 5 players (the 4 originals + Jeremy), we'll get a better feel for their standing next week.

GoRammies had the best overall and MWC record this week (11-2 and 9-1, respectively), and this week's bonus goes to me (hooray!), as I was the closest predictor of Missouri's margin of victory over SDSU.

With that said, here's Week 3's Standings and Picks:

Week 4 Tiebreaker/Bonus:

Week 4 Note:
Sorry if it appears I'm picking a lot of SEC games in the non-MWC contests, but I'm simply trying to pick the best match-ups each week. This means my first priority is to find match-ups between ranked teams. Second, I try to find match-ups between a ranked team and a storied program. If those options fail, I try to find an even match-up between bigger programs, if possible. For example, this week, Bama-Arkansas, West Virginia-LSU, and South Carolina-Auburn are all match-ups of ranked teams. My last pick winds up being UNC-Rutgers because it's a fairly even match-up. I'd have rather gone with Miami @ Pitt, but I'm not going to pick a weeknight game if I don't have to (in this case, no MWC games on Thursday, so why start the pick 'em before necessary?). I hope that clears up any confusion on how I go about picking non-MWC match-ups.

Enjoy!
