Predicting the Season: BCS Implications From Week One
This post is being promoted to the front page. It is from BCS Evolution who is adding BCS ramifications each week to be posted here. Make sure to visit their site.
As each week of previews is completed I will be using the percentages to determine how to count each game. 66% or more counts as a win. Anything between 50 and 66% is a toss up, and will be discussed as variable.
For the opening week, Utah, TCU, Air Force, SDSU and Wyoming secured wins, though the last three do so with FCS opponents. New Mexico and UVLV garned losses. Of particular note is BYU's coin flip.
It will be important to keep an eye on Boise State and Houston through this process. I will count the game with Virginia Tech as a coin flip. Houston is an FCS win.
Projected BCS rankings:
1-0 Boise State: #3
1-0 TCU: #8
0-1 Boise State: #15
1-0 Utah: #18
1-0 Houston: #24
1-0 BYU: ORV
I also would expect a couple tams from the other four at-large conference to pick up some upset wins and get close to the top 25.
Now for a look at the projected standings, using the poll percentages for percent wins.
| Team | PCT | 1-0 | 0-1 |
| Air Force | 1.000 | 100% | 0% |
| SDSU | 1.000 | 100% | 0% |
| Wyoming | 1.000 | 100% | 0% |
| TCU | 0.840 | 84% | 16% |
| Utah | 0.830 | 83% | 17% |
| BYU | 0.525 | 52.5% | 47.5% |
| CSU | 0.525 | 52.5% | 47.5% |
| UNLV | 0.235 | 23.5% | 76.5% |
| New Mexico | 0.115 | 11.5% | 88.5% |
Conference standings are not yet listed because no conference games have been played. I expect some silliness at the top of the standings will be sorted out over the next week of games.

i would love to see air force beat okie. phil steele is so high on them. on okie.
i don’t think their qb is as good as air force’s. plus how often does okie play a team with a rushing attack like af’s. air force is loaded at rb too. not saying it will happen but it would be nice. how high could utah get with 3 aq bcs wins and running the table in final bcs standings? same with tcu and boise?
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. I still will always follow the Mountain West Conference. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez and face the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson where he will defeat JDS and stake his claim as pound for pound champion.

As for the rankings...
I guess you will just have to wait and see as this series unfolds.
Oklahoma might seek to focus some BYU style payback on Air Force.

I think AF will give Oklahoma a game
It will be really close. I can also see UNLV beating Wisconsin, but thats just probably optimism.
there was a game between unlv and wisconsin about 5 or 7 years ago.
we call it the transformer must have been hit by a car game(the sportsbooks explanation). wisky was leading and covering the game. then with about 5 minutes and 50 seconds the lights go out. they called the game. i believe wisconsin got the win but if you read the wagering guidelines you will see that a game is only official if it’s below 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. which means if you had money on the badgers you were out of luck. you get your original money back but not the winnings. wisconsin travels really well and had 10,000 – 12,000 fans at that game. i’m sure a few of them had a 1000 dollars on that game. they must have been really pissed off. the next day klas news said they could find no car that hit a transformer the night before. we think the powers that be did not want to pay out the badger faithful. i had no money on that game b/c unlv is as unpredictable as they get. vegas always finds a win to win. lol.
