Predicting The Season: Wisconsin Badgers @ UNLV Rebels

UNLV has a new coach in Bobby Hauck which means a new offense is heading into Vegas in the form of a more pro-style offense rather then the spread that former head coach Mike Sanford ran unsuccessfully for the past few years.  Whereas Wisconsin is a darkhorse Big 10 favorite lead by quarterback Scott Tolzien.  The Badger defense is questionable with only six starters returning with the defensive line and secondary losing key players might allow UNLV to expose them in week one.

UNLV will still implement their spread as well as Hauck's pro-style offense, and he will not be forcing the new system in year one and not do what Rich Rodriguez tried to do at Michigan with less then stellar results.

The rankings are from the Sporting News top 100 with UNLV being unranked -- that can not be good-- and Wisconsin 8th.  The last time Wisconsin took on UNLV in 2007 it was actually a close matchup with Wisconsin pulling away late.  This game will be broadcast on the venerable Versus network for a late night showing with an 11 p.m. eastern kick.

Voting lasts 24 hours and will begin everyday at 11am mountain time.

This one on a neutral field is a mismatch

so why do I think an early season game on the road evens this game out? The game in 07 was a pretty good one as I recall and it was in Wisconsin.

Okay I'm going to defend my choice here...UNLV

I hate UNLV, growing up in vegas i thought it would be the school i would go to if i didn’t get in anywhere else. Which is true, I graduated BSU…HOWEVER!!! My roomate in Boise was from Montana and was a MSU fan, but the way he talked about Hauck was unreal even for a hated rival. I say 28-21 Hauck shocks the Big Ten. His coaching is way too good, he will turn a mediocre-at-best team into a MWC darkhorse.

Great!

We got some enthusiasm. This kind of an upset would put UNLV football on the map.
