Predicting The Season: Oregon State Vs. TCU
is game will be played at the home of the Dallas Cowboys and will be a pro TCU crowd since the Fort Worth campus is less then 30 minutes to the stadium. TCU bring back nearly every key player from their 2009 Fiesta Bowl team. Oregon State historically gets off to a slow start, but they always finish strong and last year were very close to going winning the Pac-10 and heading to the Rose Bowl.
Everyone knows about the Rodgers brothers and how dangerous they are, but the Beavers are breaking in a new quarterback, but they do return seven on defense. TCU lost Jerry Hughes on defense, but historically Gary Patterson has been able to replace top defensive players. The only offensive player of note that was lost was RB Joseph Turner, but the Frogs went four deep at that position and should be fine there. TCU has a big play threat equivalent to the Rodgers brothers in WR/KR Jeremy Kerley who is a star in the return and short passing game.
The rankings are from the Sporting News top 100 with TCU 6th and Oregon State 15th, so this should be a very competitive game, but the edge goes to TCU with the essential home game and the more experienced quarterback.
This game is on ESPN and will kick at 8:45 p.m. eastern time on Saturday September 4th.

Um, TCU also lost Marshall Newhouse; and it was to the NFL draft.
That’s kind of a big deal.
I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called, The Bus That couldn't Slow Down.

I was referring to skill players
Yes Marshall Newhouse was a big loss.

OSU is a tough out for anyone
But TCU should roll by a touchdown or two.

Ha
Me too, though it’s kind of a push since TCU will help the conference towards AQ status.

Boise fans
are confused about this one. Do we root for TCU, future conference mate, as any win against BCS programs helps the MWC cause? Or root for OSU as opportunities such as the one BSU is in this year do not happen very often?
So whats more important? Playing a higher ranked OSU or a decent win for TCU making our future conference look stronger?
In this situation, I have to say Im going to be rooting for the beavers. Its go big or go home this year for the broncos.
Old enough to know better, too young to care.
I picked the Beavers.
1. Boise State will need all the SOS help they can get.
2. Future conference mates should be hated, not endeared.
3. I don’t want to see TCU leapfrog the Broncos in the polls again.
Boise State - The best in all the land (The "land" being Idaho, and large parts of California, Oregon, and Nevada.) Now also including Fort Worth, TX and coming soon this fall, Washington D.C.!
I agree
We need the beavers to win every game besides ours, and TCU to win every game besides this game.
It’s just a matter of being out for yourself now, or the long term possible benefits.
It’s moot to worry about because I believe TCU will win by ten, without ever really being threatened.

plus
One game will not make that big of a difference for AQ status

Who do you root for?
Hey BSU:
Here’s the deal: First worry about your broncos beating VaTech, which frankly I hope you do, then worry about SOS. I don’t think it will matter one iota about their strength of schedule as long as your team goes 12-0. You are probably ranked 2nd, 3rd at worst, so I doubt you have to worry about being leap “Frogged” again this year. I am pulling for our future conference affilitation, because if we don’t get an AQ bid next time we are all screwed! As far as the Frogs, they goe 12-0 along with their 5th or 6th place initial ranking, and I know they are BCS bound again. Two teams again should secure the whole thing. Hell, might even get a desert rematch for all the marbles!
