Predicting The Season: New Mexico @ Oregon

This one could get ugly fast as the Lobos were not really good last year, but Oregon is having the off season of hell in regards to legal troubles.  Their star running back LaMichael James is out for this first game due to his own run in with the law.

Oregon is 11th in the Sporting News 100 while New Mexico sneaks in at 96.  This game takes place in Autzen stadium at 3:30 p.m. eastern time, but currently there is no television station set to carry the game. If the game is on television expect for it to be on a regional Fox Sports channel.

Voting lasts 24 hours and will begin everyday at 11am mountain time.

Yes, I think they'll get two wins.

Still no chance they beat Oregon.

And New Mexico actually has a less-experienced team next year, so that could be tough.

I didn't say they would win.

I said they would hang within 30ish. that would be an improvement.

Sheesh

other than Nebraska/Western Kentucky and the OOC skeds of every SEC team not named Georgia, this might be the biggest disparity in rankings this season.

UO hangs 50+ on UNM pretty easily even after losing Masoli and James for this game (or season for Masoli). UO 55 – UNM 10

And who voted for New Mexico…come on man!

10 points!!??

How bad do you think our defense is? Just kidding.

But behind LaMichael James, we still have great talent at the runningback position. Kenjon Barner played extremely well last season, and played stellar in the Spring Game. Senior Remene Alston has a lot of playing time under his belt as well, and will be used as a power option to complement Barner. Hopefully one of a number of incoming freshman will get playing time then as well.

Barner is as good as James in my opinion

and to answer your first question, I’m basing this on UNM scoring a TD in the final minutes on the backups.

Reserves or not, 10 points is not realistic.

It just doesn’t matter who plays, the defense is too proud to give up 10 points. I doubt seriously that they’ll give up 10 first downs and offensive totals may be in the minus column at game’s end. Washington State got 6 points last year, Cal got 3. This is Autzen Stadium, season opener. Lotta guys wanna make their bones. I say that its the first shutout for the Ducks this year but not the last.
And no offense meant. These guys are just that good.

come on

we will be way improved this year. our defense is going to be solid, we do have the nations leading tackler and jonathan rainey is second in the MWC in sacks. and demond dennis in coming along as running back, and two good freshmen quarterbacks in terian austin and stump godfrey. and the illinois DE transfer reggie ellis. UPSET!

I like sarchasm too.

I mean so many great things have come out of New Mexico, how can they not win. I mean they’re returning so many great players from that awesome 1-11 defense. How can we compete against a QB named Stump? He’s going to continue the win tradition of UNM.

I mean when you have a team that totaled 1203 yards rushing, Oregon’s won’t know how to slow down that type of attack. It’s not like they have anybody on the team that rushed for 1500+ yards by himself.

I agree, this is an upset in the making. Autzen stadium isn’t intimidating at all for visiting opponents of this win caliber.

I want Canzano to stand there in that [expletive] white uniform, and with his Harvard mouth, extend Chip some [expletive] courtesy! Addicted to Quack
