The Pac-10 deal

Doesn’t seem like a done deal at all.

Makes sense for the Pac-10

Gain another top 20 market in SLC, plus a great football team.

Personally, I don’t see A&M in the SEC. A&M has flirted with the SEC for a long time. There has been speculation and it hasn’t happened. A&M has talked with the SEC since Arkansas went to the SEC in 1993. It wouldn’t make sense for the SEC to add them at this time because they have already said that they are not considering Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech or Clemson, and I don’t see many other good candidates for that. Thirteen would not work for the SEC.

But, here’s a new scenario. What if A&M turns down the invite to the Pac-10 just to be turned down by the SEC. Then we would have our choice of A&M, Missouri, and the Kansas – Kansas St. package. Here comes the next fork in the road. Will Utah accept? Let’s say Thompson finds some way to keep Utah in the MWC (probably not going to happen, but this is speculation). At that point we could add Texas A&M and Missouri. Both are good football programs with big TV Markets and lots of fans. At that point it would be no question that the MWC is a BCS Conference.

UNLV is going all the way this year!

SLC isn't top 20

If it were, Utah would have been in a long time ago. It’s more like 31ish if I remember right

Sorry

I don’t know why I thought SLC was top 20, but they are a pretty good market.
