Priority Rookie Free Agent Signings

Now that the NFL draft is over time to look to see who is getting a look as a priority free agent.  Two big surprises for players who were not drafted were BYU's quarterback Max Hall and UNLV's wide receiver Ryan Wolfe. I can see Wolfe not being drafted for suffering a broken foot near the end of the season, but Hall should have been drafted. Here is a list and some accompanying commentary on the rookies who were signed as priority free agents.

NFL.com has an ongoing and frequently updated thread on the rookie signings, or look here at NE Patriots Draft, and the team links go to the SBN team page or a link to their FA rookie signings.

I'm not sure Hall was that big a suprise

Most people had Canfield, Robinson and Snead above Hall. Canfield and Robinson went in the 7th and Snead wend UD as well.

He’s like a poor man’s Colt McCoy, a bit too short with adequte at best arm strength. He doesn’t have the mobility that Colt does. You can say alot about his leadership and 4 successful years, but I don’t see him being anything other than a backup at best, and there are some FA backups who could be better than him.

To me, Kafka in the 4th was a bigger suprise since he’s got “high upside bust” written all over him. Clearly he’s not stupid with his Northwestern degree, but I just don’t see it.

Gresham will walk into NO right now and be one of the top five longsnappers in the league, the Saints got great value there.
