Mountain West Tournament Bracket Set

The final seed jockeying took place for the three through six spots, so now the race for the auto-bid is in full force.  A proper preview will be posted Tuesday, and for some big news our staff has been chosen to cover the MWC tournament for SB Nation as well as providing some coverage for CBSSports.com.  So make sure to visit those places as well for more coverage.

Each game will be in HD which means The Mtn. will be in high-def.  Just hope that eventually every game will be in HD in the future for the The Mtn.  It makes it tough to watch.

Local HD listings can be found here for The Mtn.

Not going to get into the Versus snafu, but find a place to watch that game.

Could happen

This tourney will be intense. I am curious to see if UNLV will rise and beat the Utes, or will their struggles continue.

I have the opposite problem.

I don’t get The Mtn. or CBSCS , but I do get Versus.

ouch

One thing to consider is the CBS College XXL was showing some conference stuff for free. So perhaps some of the MWC will be shown for free (perhaps a cost) or a free feed. I am geared up for the semis.

I have a way to watch online.

Just better on an actual tv and in HD.

Where?

I’m going to be traveling and I don’t think I have ever seen Versus in a hotel.

Phew...

I’m glad UNM doesn’t have to face UNLV until possibly the title game. But then again, SDSU will be tough.

by ChiLobo#23 on Mar 7, 2010 9:19 PM PST reply actions

I would pick the Aztecs

SD State has the most riding on the line in this thing and with them coming up just short last year I think they will be really hungry this time around to win it all.

by utahmanami on Mar 8, 2010 1:30 AM PST reply actions

although...

they better not overlook Colorado State. Let us not forget 2007 when they dropped a first round game to the rams after beating them twice in the regular season. Similar circumstances here.

Someone will get upset

I think. Utah or CSU would be the best bets but it could be later in the tournament like SDSU taking down BYU. I doubt it ends up a 1-2 match-up and all the higher seeds win.

Is this thing rigged?

UNLV gets home court and the best start times? This is getting close to BCS fixing territory. At least make them play at noon so their fans are in class or at work.
Instead everyone else has to travel and play at a time they haven’t all year.

There was a little sarcasm in there so don’t think I am comparing it to the BCS, I’m just saying.

Nice catch

For fan attendance it is a good time for UNLV. However, the time between games favors UNM

Come on Rammies!

Rams have gotten hot in the tourney before and I’d love to see it happen again. IF, by some act of god, they lose to SDSU then I’m cheering for a UNLV v. SDSU final.

Either way, this is a stacked tournament, hopefully the rest of the nation takes notice.

PS

I’m the Homer that voted other…. Rams did it in 2003, why not 2010!?

by GoRammies on Mar 8, 2010 9:16 AM PST up reply actions

not a problem

Support your school. I would be stoked if the Utes made a run.

by Jeremy Mauss on Mar 8, 2010 11:28 AM PST up reply actions

Yay for Ram Homers!

I didnt want to jinx them so I went UNLV cause of the home court and game times.

True

But they weren’t anywhere close to the best team in 2003 either…. I’m not saying it’s rational, I’m saying that’s how I voted.

GO RAMS!

Here is a question for you:

why is the women’s bracket screwed up? I don’t understand why it is necessary to give the #1 and #2 teams TWO byes. I think it is a dumb move by the conference; we don’t have a problem with respect on the women’s side.

by Role Player on Mar 8, 2010 8:56 AM PST reply actions

I saw that

The reason I can think of is to protect their top teams so they have the best chance to make the NCAA. The MAAC and WCC on the mens side give their top two seeds a bye until the semis.

by Jeremy Mauss on Mar 8, 2010 8:58 AM PST up reply actions

That's what pisses me off.

I hate being associated with the MAAC and WCC.

True

I think the MWC womens hoops is above that. The league usually sends two teams a year.

by Jeremy Mauss on Mar 8, 2010 1:36 PM PST up reply actions

DirecTV needs to make up with Versus and get it back on their palette

People (especially Jeremy) are getting very upset at DirecTV about dropping Versus because not only does Versus carry MWC basketball games on Saturdays, but it also has their football games and sometimes Pac-10 football games. If DirecTV doesn’t get Versus back on board soon frustration will rise over the top.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J.
