#15 BYU Dominates Overmatched Utes
BYU (27-4,12-3) held Utah(14-15, 7-8) scoreless for a stretch of 8:35 between the end of the first half and early in the second, turning a close game into one of the biggest blowouts in the long history of the rivalry.
Brandon Davies scored a career high 21 points and Michael Loyd Jr. had 18 to lead the Cougars. Chris Hines dropped nine points to lead the Utes on senior night. Senior Kim Tille had 11 rebounds in his last college home game.
Everyone in the arena knew it would be a long night for the Utes when Marshall Henderson missed the team's first three shots. Henderson went 1 for 7 with 4 points when he is the most crucial part to the offense. Senior Luka Drca had 8 points but most came on free throws.
Jimmer Fredette got in early foul trouble but the Cougars wouldn't need him with Davies and Loyd Jr. taking over the show. The Cougars now have swept three of the last four seasons against the Utes.
This was the first time Utah really has been blown out all year but wow it was a big one. Many Ute fans are questioning Boylen as a coach. His offense is horrible and stagnant and his team makes bad decisions. He won with someone else's recruits last year and hmust improve rapidly to keep up with the talent of the Mountain West Conference.
