As the announcers said, he’s carrying his Lobos. 67-64 with 1:38 to go. Roman Martinez going to the line to shoot 3 after being fouled by White.
New Mexico ball with 11.7 to go
Shot clock violation gets New Mexico a few extra seconds (was gonna be 7.4 left). Apparently the refs can’t hear the shot clock buzzer (literally, not being sarcastic).

End of game
Hmmm….New Mexico missed a final shot, and now there’s a question whether there was a Lobos foul in enough time before the clock stopped. Major clock issues late in the game.
Game over: SDSU 72 - New Mexico 69
They gave New Mexico the foul, so SDSU went to the line and hit both free throws with .7 seconds left. New Mexico threw it the length of the court and air-balled it.
If SDSU isn’t in, something is really wrong with the system.
Even though I'm a Lobos fan
it is better they lost. The Lobos got spotted two points on a shot clock violation earlier where the refs did not hear.
So did we win by 2 or 4?

The Aztecs got screwed.
And they still won. Hopefully they’ll win the whole thing. Then we’ll have 4 teams in the tourney! (Disclaimer: anything I post tonight should be viewed through alcohol goggles.)

need some glasses or something because they should have made some adjustments on those shot clock violations. SDSU would have been pissed had they lost this game with the one clear violation.
The mwc needs to hire some new refs

Insanity
This game is crazy so far. 21-19 UNLV with 11:39 to go. Both sides are firing up 3s like nobody’s business. The two sides are a combined 10-13 from beyond the 3-pt line.
37-32 UNLV at under 4 timeout
Jimmer’s getting his points, but I’m really liking the Rebels team effort. When they’ve struggled they’ve gotten points from Willis and maybe Stanback. Right now they’re getting points from everybody.
39-32, 1 minute left in the half
Things have settled down after an explosive first 9 or so minutes. Fredette hasn’t scored since the first 6 minutes of the game.
41-34 at the half
Chace Stanback with 11 points, 4 boards. Oscar Bellfield with 5 points, 6 assists. Both have been really big in opening things up for UNLV.
Fredette with 12 points, although the Rebels have done a good on him since his early flurry of points. Jackson Emery has a solid line so far (6 points, 3 reboudns, 2 steals, 2 assists). Tavernari was fairly quiet in the first half.

When UNLV has played well, it’s been because of strong defense.

Only his second game this season career game with double digit points. Definitely helpful getting his contributions down low.

The city was originally founded by Mormons, so a huge Mormon population in the city. Biggest outside of Salt Lake City.

There have been some ticky-tack calls, but at the same time there has been some really physical play not called. Very inconsistent performance by the refs.

Early complaints already
Las Vegas is the place that draws the fans. Why do you think the West Coast Conference moved their tournament there? New Mexico traveled well and BYU obviously traveled well there.

They’ve won 15 of 18 when the tourny has been held at the T&M. Please.

They should play it in Vegas but perhaps at the Orleans or MGM. At least its not in the home gym of the Rebels. But those places do not hold as much as the T&M.

it is still no Vegas which is what people will say
And it would be on the Aztecs home court. I would just want a neutral arena. To balance it out. Even if it was at Energy Solutions in Salt Lake that would provide a crowd advantage but not a home court for both BYU and Utah.

ESPN
Is funny they showed a schedule grid and highlighted the games that would be on ESPN/ABC and the SDSU vs. UNLV game was highlighted. Something I miss? nope just an error by the WWL.
They want to show our games.
Seeing as how the MWC is the most talked about conference these days. NOPE. We’re stuck with channels nobody wants or gets.

Hey, this is shaping up perfectly.
If my Lobos don’t win, then I’m all about what’s best for the conference. In this case, if SDSU wins the title game, we have a pretty good chance of 4 in the tourney!
