Fort Defended as Rams Roll Pokes 80-64

The Border War didn't disappoint in intensity but the Rams (14-9, 5-4) went on a 32-12 run with 12 minutes left in the first half to take the lead for good against the Cowboys (9-14, 2-7).  Most of the intesity was down low between Andy Ogide and Wyoming big men Adam Waddell and Boubacar Sylla.  Adam Waddell and Andy Ogide both went for double doubles. Waddle had 16 points and 10 rebounds while Ogide had 13 and 11.  Catch more after the jump...

Star-divide

With the Moby Maniacs decked out in orange and green for the throwback Aggie uniforms the Rams shot the roof off.  They were 10-15 from 3 point land and shot 51% from the field, their highest in conference all year.  The Rams were lead by Travis Franklin and his game high 20 points, 18 of which came in the 2nd half.  Franklin was 12-19 from the charity strip breaking his poor shooting streak at  home games of late.  Dorian Green added 11 and Andre McFarland had 11 points, 3-4 from 3 point, as he is almost back to 100% after his diagnosis of Bells Palsy.   The Rams were able to out rebound the Cowboys 38-22.

The Cowboys did manage to force Colorado into 17 turnovers as they cut the lead to 10 with about 8 minutes remaining in the game.  However Wyoming didn't shoot well enough to get it any closer, 38% from the field and 31% from 3 point land.  Desmar Jackson had 16 points in the game and have the Rams major fits early on before he cooled off.

One more note, I was at the game so I couldn't hear the explanations by a TV crew but the referees seemed horrible.  They went to the monitor around 4-5 times to look at calls that I didn't believe you could review.  There were a call against Greg Smith that was 2 minutes late after they had already called a jump ball.  Two refs disagreed on a charge/blocking call so they decided to just give the Rams the ball under the basket after reviewing the call.  There were 53 fouls called in the game and they seemed to miss a few big ones as Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer went livid a few times after non calls.  Tim Miles called a 20 second time out just to give the ref an earful.  It wasn't the best day by a crew of refs that in general has been good this year in the MWC.

Next the Cowboys travel to SDSU as the Aztecs will try and revenge an early season road loss.  The Rams look to get a three game win streak as they travel down I-25 to the Air Force Academy.  The Rams now are "tied" for 2nd in the conference but there are the big 4 teams above them and they still have to play them all a 2nd go round.
