Steve Alford and Johnathan Tavernari's post game argument.

Just throwing this out there because I don't know
but did he? All we have is Alford’s word on that from what I’ve heard.
Yeah
and that really came about because of Alfords interview. But I haven’t heard anywhere that Alford actually said what he says he said to JT. Just curious.
Hear me out.
I know that I am a very obvious Lobo fan, but this is getting blown out of proportion.
1-Tavernari IS an asshole. BYU fans have even told me this, and you could see during the game that he wasn’t exactly cool as a cucumber. It was very apparent that Alford congratulated him and got it thrown back in his face.
2-Alford lost his cool and there are consequences for that. He should know better.
3-Most important: this thing was settled between men after the game. Tavernari apologized, and Alford recognized that in his post game interviews.
This is not good media for the MWC. I hope we do not contribute to it further.
I'm a Rebel, but I bleed the cherry and silver of the Lobos.
Agreed
Mostly on #1, if a coach congratulates you you take it, even if you don’t agree. JT is just perpetuating that perceived “BYU almighty” attitude by acting like an ass, I wasn’t really surprised.
And #3 is the most important point, they settled it and it should be done with now.
Bring back Fum's Song!
JT is a moron and a half!
BUT in the end the bigger man is JT. He took the initiative to go to Alford after the game. Alford picked a yelling match with a 22 year old? And he’s the one doing the name calling? That’s very mature.
Let’s be honest here too guys, #2 is most important. His #1 focus should be teach those kids to be good sports and responsible men. He threw everything in the trash when he acted like a baboon!
BTW, did I hear an “f’n a-hole” at :08-:09?
"#2 is most important. His #1 focus should be teach those kids to be good sports and responsible men."
He didn’t throw everything in the trash. He made a mistake; name a person who hasn’t. Calling JT the bigger man because he was told to do something by Rice is a little unfounded. As is calling out Alford for not apollogizing first since he was probably focused on his team in the locker room (like you said he should be). Who knows what he would have done after the meeting was adjourned. Once again, I am not defending him, but let’s cut it out with unfounded accusations. Facts: mistakes? Yes. Apologies? Yes. Bigger men? No.
This should be a closed issue. I really am making this my last word on the issue. I hate that this covers up an exciting game that should have positive attention for the conference.

Now you know what BYU went thru when Max Hall killed our victory over Utah
Sorry but it comes with a price and it can’t go unnoticed.
I agree he made a mistake but what needs to be realized is what he did, who he did it against, and who heard it.
What he did: he allowed a 22 yr old who was ignoring him to get under his skin. He allowed that to bother him so much that he called the kid an a hole (which he is, but a 40-50 yr old dude doesn’t need to be the one to tell him that), possibly twice (with a possible f bomb in there, listen to :08-:09).
Who he did it against: A 22 yr old who just lost to his team. Not to forget that it was during the handshakes, not in the heat of the game.
Who heard it: Not only did he set the bad example for his players but this was on national t.v. Now everyone in the nation, no matter how this story settles, will know this guy as a prick who fights with opposing players.
Like the Max Hall issue this took a few days to settle. Rest assured it will, but it will take a few days. Shoot, this is the beginning to a very hated rivalry… I’m excited!
Your right about the rivalry...
BYU is getting a couple of those in league play, UNLV, UNM, SDSU, and Utah when they don’t have a down year like they did this year…
Rebel Rock
JT
There is a reason he was banned from talking to the media for a long time last year.

I wish Rose would ban him from shooting 3's with less than 5:00 in the game
I can’t wait for him to graduate! He’s our Max Hall of bball.
