Aztecs travel to Fort Worth needing win to keep tourny hopes alive/ Open Thread 8 PM EST
San Diego State (18-7 7-4 MWC) has won two in a row including a win over 23/25 UNLV last Saturday at Viejas Arena. TCU (12-14; 4-7 MWC) meanwhile the Frogs are coming off a road win over Wyoming, a team that has really fallen of lately.
The first match-up of these two teams, the Frogs were able to build a 14 point lead over the Aztecs at Viejas Arena before SDSU was able to come back and take the victory 67-62. The Aztecs have won 8 out of the last 9 games in the match-up, but the young Aztecs have struggled on the road this season and are prone to making mistakes and missing free throws away from Viejas Arena. The Frogs are only 8-6 at home this season
The Frogs will rely on their big 3 Ronnie Moss, Zvonko Buljan and Edvinas Ruzgas who have done most of the heavy lifting for the Frogs this season. All 3 are averaging double figures in scoring. Aztecs freshman forward Kawhi Leonard was named MWC player of the week for his performances against Wyoming and UNLV. Along with Malcolm Thomas, the Aztecs have dominated the boards. Forward Billy White had his best game on Saturday against UNLV since sustaining a severely sprained ankle in the first half against New Mexico in the Aztecs win over the Lobos at Viejas earlier in the season.
