The struggling Utes pulled closer to .500 on the season when they defeated TCU on Wednesday. They need just one more win to get to .500 on the year. Unfortunately, their next game is against the 15th ranked Lobos.
A win for New Mexico will pull them further ahead of BYU for first place in the MWC. They need to make up any ground they can with the Cougars and Rebels closely trailing them in the standings. This game is important for New Mexico, not just Utah.
Wins in the Huntsman Center have not come easy for New Mexico. The Lobos have dropped 19 of their last 20 games in Salt Lake City. Utah hasn't been all that tough at home this season though, going (7-6).
The play of Marshall Henderson will be critical for the Utes. When his shots are falling, Utah is tough to beat. He returned from his suspension and led the Utes with 24 points in their win over TCU.
Expect a New Mexico win but it shouldn't come too easy. Although Utah's record is poor, they have beat good teams and have played many teams tough. Home court advantage could be a major factor as well. Two of New Mexico's Three losses have come on the road. I still would be surprised though if the Lobos lose this one.
