Here is a Facebook event invitation to all college football fans to "boycott" the BCS games this year. Here is the description:
This is an invite to boycott this year's 2011 BCS football games. The recent college football hoopla has reached a max and I think as someone who invests a significant amount of time, money, and passion as a fan, I need to draw the line somewhere. Who wants to hear "BCS-Buster" or "One-loss SEC team" or "Does Boise State deserve a chance" ever again??? It's a broken record!!! I know there are millions of CFB fans out there that are perfectly content with the BCS, but if you look at the college football nation as a whole I think you'll agree a playoff system would serve much better.
So... Why support an entity that is basically designed to attempt to generate enormous revenues, which is perfectly fine, but only to a certain degree that maintains respect for the fans. The BCS does NOT care about you, the fan, and is ignorant of the passion, pageantry, and tradition that is associated with being a college football fan.
I know it will be difficult especially if one of your teams ends up in one of those games, but do yourself a favor and at least try to unplug a little from the BCS crap this year. What is the point of complaining about a system for an entire season, only to end up watching. I think a playoff is very close, but why buy into this system for another year if you don't have to? Don't start off 2011 by supporting the BCS once again.
