MWC Hoops Open Thread: Colorado State (11-5) @ #17 BYU Cougars (17-1)
The battle of the unbeaten teams is taking place this late afternoon, while BYU is expected to be here Colorado State was not. However, their two conference wins are against TCU and Wyoming which are nothing special so today will be a test for the Rams. BYU's junior guard Jimmer Fredette is still recovering from mono so the amount of his playing time is up in the air.

Could be a great game
Rams fans are just happy Rashaun “Pan Hands” Greer isn’t there to give up two interceptions and spiral the season away…

New Mexico
Just wanted to follow up on the question about New Mexico. Are they not quite what their non-conference record indicated? They beat 3 ranked teams, none of whom is ranked anymore (although A&M and TT are both getting votes). Any thoughts on how good or not they really are?
Yeah same here.
UNM overrated or Wyoming Underrated? Wyoming can stay in any game at home, but I think they will be dominated on the road.

They are good in the overall picture
I think they will end up being a bubble team at the end of the year. They are just inconsistant so far like a few other teams.

Not a chance.
They may be a high NIT seed if anything.

really?
You think SDSU does enough in conference to pass what UNM did in non-conference?

I like UNM better then SDSU
No one else around here seems to though. A lot of it will come down to the MWC tournament I think.
Bring back Fum's Song!
confused
You said you like UNM better, but just above you mention them as the 4th team, which would put SDSU ahead of them.

Ya
Its early, but I think everyone else thinks SDSU is better so UNM would be the later team picked. I think UNM is better though and should be picked ahead of them.
Bring back Fum's Song!
That was confusing.
Let me clarify. I like UNM over SDSU.
When it comes to selction time I think SDSU will get selected first and I don’t agree but thats how it is.

Mike Anesse isn't bad as the backup guard
But if Jesse Carr gets healthy I think CSU will be dangerous. CSU really lacks a assist man and 3pt threat that could carry them at times. Carr can be that guy.

Ogide has bad hands
He could score 4-6 more points a game just by catching the ball.

Tim Miles going ten deep
Not many teams will go ten deep this early in a close important game I imagine.

BYU pulling away
Thanks to some good shooting by the Cougars, Rams turnovers and a few “late” attempts taking some charges.

Rams can't make anything
Good lesson for the young Rams team, your shots won’t always fall but you have to find a way to keep the game close.

Yeah it's really turning into a blood bath
Atleast it was an exciting first half for the most part. I do think CSU will be a force to be reckoned with the next few years. Great freshman.

I was worried about Jimmer taking awhile to get healthy
then he goes and leads all scorers in todays game.

BYU-UNLV
Depending on how the next few weeks go, UNLV-BYU in Las Vegas on February 6 could be one heck of a game.
