Making The Rounds: September 29, 2009

Utah's BYE week comes at a perfect time.

TCU is battling with Houston and Boise State as remaining undefeated BCS Buster's for the 2009 season.

BYU's Riley Nelson says he is happy he left Utah State to play at BYU.

Colorado State is hoping that star WR Rashaun Greer will drop less balls.

Wyoming head coach, Dave Christensen, is currently battling kidney stones.

Air Force's defense played well in their win over San Diego State.

UNLV looks to avenge their loss to Wyoming by beating their rival Nevada.

New Mexico's first year coach, Mike Locksley is having a hard time on and off the field.

San Diego State coach Brady Hoke still has confidence in sophomore quarterback Ryan Lindley, despite the teams 6 turnovers against Air Force.

TCU

Has the toughest schedule with possibly more ranked teams to play then either Boise or Houston

They should but it wont be easy

TCU would have road wins over Virginia, Clemson and #21 BYU with a home win over #31 Utah, plus playing in a more difficult conference.

Houston would have road wins over #12 Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Tulsa and a home win over Texas Tech.

Boise would have road wins over Fresno and Tulsa and a home win over #25 Oregon. Boise has the weakest schedule, but they are already at 5. It will be hard for these teams to jump them.

So what you're saying is

Boise is extremely overrated and their ranking is based on their non-BCS name recognition and coaches wanting to boost their rewards for beating them in the future?

Yeah that’s what I thought.

I think TCU will pass BSU.

Utah passed BSU last year by beating TCU, and we started about 3 spots behind them. TCU should be able to pass BSU by beating Utah and BYU. Every week Boise plays a WAC team their ranking will drop and TCU’s will improve. Unofficially TCU is only about 4 spots behind boise, and teams like VA Tech, USC, Ohio State and Oklahoma will likely jump Boise even if Boise wins because their competition is better (USC has Cal, UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon; Oklahoma has Texas, Tx Tech, Oklahoma State; Ohio State has Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.)
