Friday Open Thread!!
Game week is upon us and there are some good games this week for the Mountain West. With some huge games coming up this week, also no worries the rest of the previews will be up tonight and early tomorrow morning.
BYU Cougars @ Tulane Greenwave: Can BYU not have a let down and will we see the offense explode.
TCU @ Virgina: Virgina lost to William and Mary, enough said.
Air Force @ Minnesota: Chance to get a win over the Big 10
Oregon State @ UNLV: This is a tricky one but I see UNLV winning in a close one
Utah @ San Jose State: Another warmup before Oregon
Weber State @ Colorado State: meme
Texas @ Wyoming: Someone from Wyoming had to have pictures to get a home and home
Tulsa @ New Mexico: This could be a blow out
Southern Utah @ San Diego State: Congrats to the Aztecs on their first win

Upset somewhere...
There is an upset somewhere in that group. It might not be going in the MWC favor either although Air Force would be my pick.
There were lots of Texas fans in Fort Collins cause Laramie ran out of hotels I guess. Not a good sign for the Cowboys if they were looking for one.
No question
Air Force beats Minnesota. Troy Calhoun had all his boys flown to the South Pole for preseason camp. You know as they say: if you can run the Triple Option in -60 degrees, you can run it anywhere.
The Gophers will start off at 0-1 in their new digs. Just like the Football Gods would want it.

Ain't Nobody Leavin' TCF Stadium on Air Force One
Even though Obama will be in town tomorrow, AFA will go down in flames. Just as Bud Grant would want it.
Smack Talk!!
Bring it!! I think this game will be close, but AFA will win.

Yup
That sucks for CSU, and it looks like Hawkins is gone after this year, if he makes it.

Hawkins won't be gone
too much invested in him, and the donors can’t take the hit.

For almost anyother university
Hawkins would be gone. However, CU don’t have deep pocketed donors and fan base. It will be interesting how it plays out.
CU athletics are terribly funded and supported, when compared to other Big 12 schools.
Good thought
Did not think of that. Maybe if Hawk uses that star recruit at running back.

Colorado getting hammered
CSU’s win loses some luster.

CSU loses some, but not all...
It was tough watching the CU Toledo game. On one hand I love watching CU get destroyed and look bad while doing it. On the other hand it diminished the CSU win.
However I still think the CSU win carries something. They went into a big 12 home opener as a ten point underdog and shut up a rival. Toledo was looking like a let down game win or lose against the rams as CU had a short week, Sunday-Friday, and coming off the emotion of a rival game.
I hope CU doesn’t win a game or they turn it around and win 6-7 games so the Rams win looks a bit better.
