Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen is Heading to NFL Helps Utah Next Year
...As is Irish WR Golden Tate. Both are expected to be a first round choice. This just helps Utah who heads to South Bend next year. Notre Dame will have either a freshman QB or Dayn Crist who is recovering from a torn ACL.

Helps Utah?
ND breaking in a new coach and quarterback, plus losing their top wide receiver isn’t good news for Utah. Personally I’d rather have Utah beat a ranked ND team. Why do we want them to be down?

In regards to a win
It helps, but I totally get your point. It will be similar to beating Michigan in 2008.
A good Michigan team in 2008 could have meant a national championship for Utah
Utah has a strong schedule next year.
TCU, BYU, Pitt – Home
Notre Dame, Iowa State, Air Force – road
I would imagine TCU is preseason Top 10 if their core of players doesn’t leave early for the NFL, Pitt can be highly ranked too. Utah can make a strong NC case with a good ND and BYU
