Final Mountain West Football Bowl Projections

What a game last night in the Big XII title game.  TCU was less then a foot away from playing in Pasadena, but since that is not the case here are my bowl projections and the official announcement will be announced later this evening on Fox and ESPN at 8pm est.

New Mexico Bowl

Wyoming Cowboys (6-6) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (8-4)

Armed Forces Bowl

Air Force  Falcons (7-5) vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles (7-5)

Las Vegas Bowl

BYU Cougars (10-2) vs. USC Trojans (8-4)

Poinsettia Bowl

Utah Utes (9-3) vs. Cal Golden Bears (8-4)

Sugar Bowl

TCU Horned Frogs (12-0) vs. Florida Gators (12-1)

There you have it, so lets see if these are correct.  I have a hard time seeing USC fall that far, but their loss to Arizona puts them there because Stanford will go to the local Emerald Bowl and unless the Sun Bow takes USC they are headed to Vegas.

Below the jump are the last of the 'expert' picks

Star-divide

Brad Edwards' BCS Bowl Projections

Bowl Matchup
BCS Title Alabama versus Texas
Rose Bowl Ohio St. versus Oregon
Fiesta Bowl TCU versus Boise State
Orange Bowl Ga. Tech versus Iowa
Sugar Bowl Florida versus Cincinnati

I still do not see the Fiesta wanting that low of a bowl selection, plus the Fiesta gets to pick after the Sugar Bowl replacement and a Big 10 school is a near guarantee ratings boost.  Plus, Boise State and TCU played last year in the Poinsettia Bowl.

My Picks

TCU vs Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl
Utah vs USC in the Vegas Bowl
BYU vs Cal in the Poinsettia Bowl
AFA vs SMU in the Armed Forces
Wyoming vs Fresno in the New Mexico

I don’t think BYU will be going to Vegas for the 5th straight year, and I don’t see the Orange Bowl passing up on the 3rd ranked Frogs.

Vegas is tricky

I would love to see the Utes send the Trojans to an 8-5 record and extend the Utes bowl winning streak to 9. Orange may stick to their roots since they used to have ties with the Big East, but it is a newer member and not a traditional Big East team. I just do not want to see a rematch of Boise/TCU.

Still sticking to my guns on the Sugar for TCU

I want the Sugar Bowl, thats my hope. I just don't see TCU falling that far

Boise vs TCU would be awful. TCU is about 1 second away from the Championship game and have to settle with playing Boise? It proves nothing when you beat up on a non-BCS team.

Utah vs USC would be awesome. 2 BCS winning schools in 2008 who now are playing true freshman quarterbacks. Both Utah and USC has a really bright future, I can see that game being marketed that way.

Rankings out!

No need for a full on post today, but to see Cincy to get a first place vote from the coaches poll is absurd. Can not wait to see who voted for them since the end of season votes are public.

How does LSU jump BYU when neither played?? That is weird and could drop BYU from BCS consideration, but that really does not matter. Utah stays in the coaches ranking at 24 and will stay in the BCS final standings which means it is another year that the MWC has 3 schools in the final BCS standings.

Could you really blame Brian Kelly?

Just saying.

hearing roomings past hour

that it is going to be TCU/Boise in Fiesta Bowl. A bunch of crap and I can not believe the Fiesta would take a ratings dive by not inviting a Big 10 team.
