Armed Forces Bowl Open Thread: Houston Cougars vs. Air Force Falcons
Air Force is hoping to push forward the Mountain West bowl success to a 4-0 record against Houston a team who Air Force would have played three times in one year. This is the rubber match as Air Force won last years regular season game which was in Dallas due to a hurricane; while Houston won this same bowl game last year.
This is an early matchup so come and hang out early and comment away in what should be an entertaining game.
Breaks down the game and it looks pretty even on their assessment and the strengths of each team are pretty obvious with Air Force in the running game while Houston in the passing game.

That fake snap on the FG attempt may not have been a bad idea.
The extra 5 yards shouldn’t affect the field goal and (and didn’t). But maybe – just maybe – you can get an offsides call with it.
BEAUTIFUL 4th down call.
Sweep to the outside, and Houston bit in the middle. Nobody near the runner at all.
Falcons looking sharp.
Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

I can't say with any certainty, but
it looks like Air Force figured out where the passing lanes are, and they are sending their rushers in for the sake of tipping the passes.
So far, it’s working beautifully.
interesting last play of the half there..........
good job by the Falcons to still get the three

4th quarter coming up.
Any USAFA score will make for a 3-score lead. They’ll probably need a TD plus something to guarantee the win, though. But they have Houston pegged very well.
Me too.
But that was a 7 1/2 minute drive, and USAFA has run 73 plays for 32:40. Houston’s defense has to be gassed.

I picked USAFA.
:-)
Not that I’m doing that well overall, but I did feel good about that pick.
