Contrary to Popular Belief the New Mexico Bowl Did Go On... It was Just Sparsely Attended

The New Mexico Bowl is one of the newer bowls in FBS and Wyoming won the most recent matchup against Fresno State.  This is not a huge bowl that makes a lot of money, but they do make money since schools are required to sale their allotment of tickets or pay for the tickets they do not sell.  However, the game did take place and it could end up being one of the more exciting bowls of the season. That goal line stand on four downs will go down as one of the best defensive series in Wyoming football history.  Not only did the game take place but an awesome trophy was given out.

Star-divide

This is highlights from the game and it starts with the amazing goal line stand.

If you want to watch that goal line stand again, download it before ESPN claims copyright.

Good on Wyoming for attending well, though.

Showing up Fresno in attendance by such a margin will be very helpful in bowl consideration in the future. And Wyoming needs every bit they can get.

I had to laugh

When the Wyoming fans rushed the field early on the missed FG in the first OT. Then watch them scurry back up into the stand.

Great game though, Carta-Samuels is a big time player.

Amazing Game

What a game, it was a great one to watch. This will not only be one of the best games this bowl season, but I am betting it will go down in Wyoming lore.
Nice job representing the conference Wyoming.

I was in school at UWyo in 1996 when they didn't get a bowl invite.

10-2 record and in the top 25. And Notre Dame refused to go to a bowl game that year because they couldn’t get an invite that was ‘prestigious enough for Notre Dame’. Things like that really do make bowl games – even the ‘lowly’ ones – a big deal for Wyoming fans.

So like the win against UCLA (another upset win), Wyoming fans will talk about this one for a while.

Forgot about that Wyoming team.

No doubt they will talk about this win it was exciting and with a new coach. The Pokes should be able to compete with the top three once ACS is a junior or senior.
