If College Football Had a Playoff: #13 LSU Tigers @ #4 TCU Horned Frogs
Before we get to game four the previous matchup of #12 Penn State @ #5 Florida came down to the very end with Penn State completing the first upset, and becomes the second lower seed, but first true upset in the "If College Football had a playoff." The vote was very close 93-87.
This matchup features TCU who is the top non-BCS seed and has dominated nearly every game and has played three teams that are currently ranked or were ranked in the top 25 during the season. This TCU team is top 10 in offense and defense, so LSU will have a difficult time trying to stop them or to moving the ball.
The LSU running game is balanced but nothing dynamic and unless LSU can have moderate success they will eventually become one-dimensional throwing the ball. However, LSU is 13th in total defense which would be the best defense to date that the Horned Frogs would face, and the fastest defense as well surpassing the Utes in that category.
To give some help to those who are not sure who would win I turned to What if Sports to simulate this game. The winner would be TCU in a minor blowout 26-3; LSU did have the game tied at 3-3 but then TCU ran off 23 straight points. The Horned Frogs rolled up 320 yards and had the edge in time of possession 38 minutes to 21 minutes.
What if Sports is not the decider in this game, you yes you! The readers of this site decide who moves onto the next round.
So gather your friends to stuff the ballot and check back daily at 12 PM eastern time to vote for the next matchup, and voting is only open for 24 hours. As they say in Chicago vote early and vote often.

TCU should make the Semi's at least
LSU would give them a game but i think TCU would rise to the challenge.

If TCU doesn't win on the Mountain West blog
I really have to question whose voting :-p

good point
I did do a fanshot on Team Speed Kills and The Valley Shook to get the word out to those fans. Hopefully TCU will rise up and vote for the obvious better team.
I think we should overrule the Florida Penn St. outcome
I shall use my veto powers over the voters.

well
I was thinking of a veto, but it was 18 votes and I posted this on the Florida and Penn State site, and actually I posted late on Black Shoe Diaries. It is not like it was someone who stuffed the ballot.

Both my purple teams facing off in the 1st round....
I follow both religiously, and each would create matchup nightmares for each other. A couple relevant things this little scenario doesn’t mention are:
1. who the home team is.
- I assume TCU because of seeding, but I think LSU would have a crowd advantage even at a neutral site.
2. the bowl records for each HC
- Miles is 4-0 with an avg margin of victory of 28 points.
- Patterson is 5-2 (5-3 if you count 2000) with an avg margin of victory of 11 points
No matter how down LSU may appear during the regular season, make no mistake – LSU has been a buzz saw in bowl games under Miles.
That being said, I think TCU’s chances of winning would be 70% Home, 55% Neutral Site and 40% in Tiger Stadium.
It's an ankle bracelet, not a halo....
Kind of dumb.
I hate to say it, but the fan voting for winners thing is kind of dumb. Not through your own fault, but it is rather obvious that people are voting for their own biases rather than who they really think the winner would be.
Penn St over Florida? Yeah right, nobody believes that crap, much less over 100 people. Do I believe over 100 people hate Florida enough to vote for Penn St? You betcha.
Penn St. is a way over-rated team. They had a schedule as weak as TCU/Boise etc, yet managed to lose games. They are no where near the quality of the top6 teams.
I’m convinced Penn St. cares more about setting Joe Pa records for things like wins and winning seasons than they are national championships. It’s the only reason why they would schedule so weak. TCU and Boise St can atleast say they have a harder time getting good games, Penn St. has no excuse.
If you TCU fans had wanted to see some real bias against you, you would have if Penn St. had managed to go undefeated.
TCU would beat LSU in a score that was relative to the Florida and Alabama scores on those games. LSU is tough, but it’s become more and more clear by the season results that the Saban train is no longer anywhere near LSU, and the only thing Miles every really did was manage to win with Saban recruits.
This is just for fun
I think most people are voting for who will win, but still it is a fun topic.

Yes - just wish
Just wish it was a bit more reasonable at all. Like I said at the start, it’s not your fault and there is nothing you can do about it.
