Mountain West Football Open Thread: Umm... Game Day is in Town Anything Else Going On?

Today's slates on the surface seem to be nothing special. CSU vs. UNLV looks to be the most competitive on the day, and is an interesting game since Colorado State reassigned --ahem-- demoted offensive coordinator Greg Peterson to concentrate full time on recruiting. Play calling is the same as head coach Steve Fairchild has been calling the plays all year.
Wyoming vs. BYU could be interested because random stuff can happen in Laramie. Utah is experimenting with quarterback play, and it looks that true freshman Jordan Wynn will get the nod. TCU could be in a trap game by looking ahead to the Utah game next week.
So, I guess today's games all have some storyline to make them seem interesting -- well at least at the start of the game.
Also, feel free to comment on other games that may effect the MWC's chance for a BCS run.

Herbie said if Ohio State loses, I guess he assumed Iowa would beat Northwestern. I would assume because if Iowa loses they will be out of the top 10. However the winner of the Iowa/OSU game goes to the Rose Bowl at least even if Iowa loses today. So it could still come down to Ohio State. But a top 5 TCU against Utah who may be around 12 in the BCS if they both win.

BCS
I could see TCU #3 tomorrow in the BCS. They move up to at least five with the Iowa loss, and they are a dead heat with Cincy so they could be 4th, and if LSU somehow beats Alabama (very plausible) they could be 3 and only a Texas or Florida loss to be in the title game. A long shot, but better then no shot.

CBSsports.com for the LSU/Bama, then the OSU/PSU game on TV, and watch Army/Air Force. Stupid Versus still pissing me off, but TCU should walk over SDSU. Just have not seen TCU enough outside of grainy online footage.

They are up there
I think they can hang with all 3 teams, and be able to beat Florida and Alabama. Because neither has shown much on offense this year. Now, if Florida were to show up on offense then Id be concerned. I think Texas is the best team in the country and a step ahead of TCU, but not by much.

they corrupt sec officials are giving the game to bama. lsu converted on
a 4th and five and called the invisble illegal motion flag. nobody moved and they missed the bama player taking down the lsu guy with a face mask which would have put the ball at bama five yard line. the sec is the most corrupt conference i have ever scene. they will have no oficialls left after they get done apologizing again and suspending their crews.

What if...
If Oregon and Penn State lose will Utah jump them both?? Utah is 14th in BCS but Oregon is pretty high and Penn State would lose only to #16 Ohio State? Could Utah get to 12 or higher, if that happens.

tcu should be fifth. but after they beat an 11th or 12th ranked utah team they should move past cincy regardless
of what cincy does until pitt game. i think cincy plays pitt in the last game of the year. might be second last game of the year.

tcu would be fourth with a cincy loss and i am curious if they would drop either florida or
bama below tcu unless it was a beatdown. i could see florida beating down bama. mcelroy is medicore. tebow is a proven commidity .he has the heisman and two ncg’s and incredible leadership qualities. i definitely want the gators to put the beatdown on bama!

houston won in thrilling fashion
the recovered onside kick and moved the ball to the 34 yard line of tulsa and then kicked a 51 yard fg for the win. the announcers said the kicker had never even kicked a 40 yarder. houston moves up just like utah does. i’ll bet navy might get into bcs poll too. cal, okie and notre dame all lost. so byu moves up to #23 and navy might get #25. navy also gave non aq bcs teams there 20th victory over aq bcs teams. that is a record and the bowl season has not even started. navy is an independent but considered a mid major and notre dame is independent but they are the bcs team with special rules that only apply to them. peace.
