When TCU goes undefeated who would you like them to play?

This post was promoted from fan post to the front page.

I would love for them to play USC.  I think TCU matches up quite well with them. TCU use seven running backs if you count Andy Dalton. We all know USC does not do well vs dual threat qb's. I think Texas Christian University would put a serious beat down on the Trojans.

TCU would be very motivated and usc would not. There players would not be motivated and i don't think Pete Carrol would either. "We all know motivation and who wants to be there is half the battle. I would say Andy Dalton would have a field day throwing 3 td passes. TCU would have a combined 280 yards rushing and usc would be dominated by the special teams of TCU. Final score: 31- 14.

Anyone

I think they could hang or beat any team in the country. USC is a good choice if that came true in the Fiesta bowl. Or for irony Alabama in the Sugar if/when they lose to Florida. ’Bama does not have the offense to exploit any team or run away in the game, and TCUs defense could shut them down.

Texas would be a real cool matchup if for some reason they go the Fiesta, Longhorns running game is suspect and TCU could make them one dimensional.

i rather it be usc or texas b/c of what i said abouve about usc....

and texas b/c they could get a few more blue chip players out of texas if tcu beat them. i don’t think nick saban would make the same mistake again so i rather bama beat the gators this year and maybe tcu gets the great tim tebow, urban meyer and the gators. a great story line and would be the bowl game with the second most publicity. if tcu could pull off that upset i say the mtn west conference would get an aq bcs bid when the time comes in 2012. i would be a little scared being that tcu has not played in a dome game(at leaest in the last 10 years that i know of) and it’s basically a home game for the gators(sec country) tcu would be very motivated and i think the gators would not. remember florida lost to michigan with tim tebow. peace.

I un-second.

I want to see them play Alabama/Florida/Texas in the NCG.

if you are going to dream big why not. i would love for everything to fall into place for tcu

there is alot of football left. lets see if tcu can get to number two in one of the polls. i would love it if it was the usa today’s coaches poll. i think that one carries the most weight. it’s 1/3 but it’s the one i want to see them number 2. peace.

IF TCU goes undefeated...

I think they will play Florida in the Sugar Bowl. If the MWC could beat the SEC again that would be huge. HUGE

if that happens i want an automatic qualified bcs conference for the mwc

we would deserve it. 2 wins over the two best teams in the sec and nation in their backyard in the last two years. no way anybody could deny us. i mentioned that scenario above too. unless mike slive got to urban meyer i think urban meyer would say publicly that the mtn west conference deserves this a aq conference. if he was interviewed after the game and if it happens at all. i actualyl think if florida were to lose to bama they would tell the sugar bowl officials not to put them against tcu. he actually said publicly last year he would not want to play his old team in utah. if it ever got out to the national media(with fans stealing text message’s , etc) what a nightmare for the sec.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 4, 2009 10:12 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

A win over Florida would create a lot of noise for the MWC

Maybe even an AP national championship if somehow TCU is the only undefeated team, but that looks unlikely.

The Frogs are very good but still have a very tough matchup against Utah. Don't sleep on that game.

Utah always seems to beat the Frogs. Yes, Utah has been up and down this season, but Utah’s defense will keep that game close.

If the Frogs beat Utah, then we can start predicting what BCS bowl that they will play in.

I like to entertain this thought now.

That way I can maintain the idea that I didn’t miss the opportunity to entertain these thoughts after Utah beats TCU.

i like utah alot i like tcu alot, i like the mountain west conference mucho grande!

i’ll ask you this. how is utah going to beat tcu with these four things against them

1: it’s in fort worth
2: it’s a revenge game
3: who is the starting qb for utah?
4. tcu is more talented this year and injury free

just the facts
i think utah’s defense can hold up for 2 and 1/2 quarters but tcu wins game by 14-17points.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 5, 2009 10:08 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think it being in Fort Worth will make that big as a factor, we’ve gone in there before and come out with wins. The biggest factor is probably the QB position, Dalton looks improved from last year while obviously the QB situation in Utah is a big question mark. But I think Utah’s defense should be gaining momentum into the game and everyone talks about TCU defense but this could be a statement game from the Utah defense

by utahmanami on Nov 5, 2009 7:28 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Utes

They have a shot, but they need to beat TCU and get help from the WAC to beat Boise.

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 5, 2009 9:14 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

tcu's defense is #1 in the nation for not giving up many yards. 238 per game

they also are in the top 5 defensively for points allowed 11.7 in a game. i expect those numbers to drop after the sdsu game. utah has a great defense too but if your offense can’t move the ball efectively eventually they get tired. tcu 27 utah 13.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 5, 2009 10:26 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

TCU

Is the better team this year, no question. However, Utah is the most talented team TCU will play this year (top to bottom—Clemson has some studs but position by position I think Utah has slightly better talent) and likely the best coached they will play (talking regular season for both).

I think it could be close again.

by MeanBobMean on Nov 6, 2009 11:49 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

tcu has no major injuries that i know of.

it takes alot of effort, good scheduling with aq bcs teams, good coaching and some luck to go undefeated. i just think it’s tcu’s year this year and utah will bounce back next year with a vengeance and go undefeated. we still have a 16 game home winning streak and an eight bowl game win streak which i think the utes will extend playing in the vegas bowl to nine straight bowl wins. the best in the nation. depending on how byu ends up this season we could play four or five teams ranked next year.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 6, 2009 9:39 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

USC???

They have 2 losses on them, no way.

You want to play the highest ranked team you can get that is not Boise since they are not respected and a win over Boise will just have everyone say “TCU could beat Boise, sure, but not the SEC . . .”

You want Florida or Alabama or LSU, whomever is there for the SEC. An undefeated Iowa game would not be a bad draw either, certainlly better than Cinncy or BSU for the MWC’s image.

by MeanBobMean on Nov 6, 2009 11:47 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Yes it would!

But an unbeaten Texas goes into the NC game. If TCU could play a one loss Texas team, absolutely fantastic game for them.

by MeanBobMean on Nov 6, 2009 12:28 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

if usc runs the table and goes 10-2 they would get a bcs bid.

i would just like tcu to put in the final nail in the coffin for a usc team that can’t beat a dual threat qb. any sec team is fine too. i would not mind georgia tech either. because when tcu beats them they would be 3-0 vs the acc. john swofford (acc commissioner who had plenty to say about utah last year) would be one angry man. peace.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 6, 2009 11:54 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Georgia Tech

Great game for TCU, good matchup I think. Both teams would have problems withe the other, in my opinion.

by MeanBobMean on Nov 6, 2009 12:29 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I think USC is a bad draw.

Normally I’d be thrilled to knock off USC, but a 2-loss USC means we’ll hear all offseason about how “That wasn’t a normal USC team” and “Normally USC would beat TCU 50-10”, etc. etc. etc. This year I want Texas, Alabama, Florida, or Iowa/Penn State.

Everyone hates a pink-shirt-wearing communist.

by displacedute on Nov 6, 2009 2:29 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

i agree with all those teams except alabama

i want someone new for the mwc to defeat. iowa would be sweet b/c as tcu slowly grinds the hawkeye’s down and there is no 4th quarter miracle coming i would love to check the blood pressure of jim delaney (big ten commissioner) what is funny about iowa is they had a publicity campaign going on to sway some voters of the polls but they only compared them to tcu, boise and cincy. the iowa people did not have enough confidence to compare them to florida, alabama and texas. the next day they change the pr campaign. i wonder who made the call to the iowa representatives? lol.

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 6, 2009 2:52 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

somewhat agree

Bama in my opinion would be the easiest opponent because their offense isnt great, Mark Ingram is a good back but TCU is awesome at stopping the run.

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 6, 2009 4:41 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

iowa has no chance to beat osu without stanzi.

that means three teams in the big ten will probably end up 10-2 with osu going to the rose bowl to face either usc, arizona, oregon or maybe even stanford. it is a mess in the pac-ten, the big 12, the acc, and the big ten. chaos is a friend of tcu, utah, boise and houston. i could not be happier at this very moment!

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 7, 2009 11:59 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

The matchup that I would enjoy seeing the most is TCU vs. Georgia Tech, simply because I love the scheme and would like to see TCU’s run-D get the ultimate test.

However from a conference perspective, TCU would get the most mileage out of beating down USC as wolfmanshow suggested. Not only would it give TCU a two game winning streak over USC, but we would be the first team to beat USC in a bowl game since 2005 Texas. From a conference perspective, that would give the Undefeated Mountain West champions a 3-0 record against top teams from the SEC, Pac-10 and Big East, which boosts our credibility even further when the BCS format comes under review again in a few years

by HawkeyedFrog on Nov 11, 2009 5:39 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

i agree with you on two fronts.

if they play georgia tech they use the same triple option attack that air force and navy uses. that is b/c there coach used to coach at navy. (paul johnson i think is his name). some people will look at the airforce game and say that was a pretty close game. it was, but it was played in the most miserable weather conditions of any game this year(18 degrees gametime). the orange bowl would have nice weather and i would love for tcu’s defensive speed to stop gt’s rushing attack and go 3-0 vs the acc the year. if usc does win there last three games i would not mind that game either. usc even though most people on the west coast know they are weaker than usual. on the east coast they are just going to see 10 wins and a couple of stumbles along the way and the usc name still conjures up great tradition and a powerhouse program. tcu would crush usc in my humble opinion just like oregon did. tcu has no major injuries so far. usc is banged up all over the place. a win over usc and a likely win for utah over the fifth place pac-ten team would be extra sweet!

by wolfmanshowlforever on Nov 11, 2009 9:51 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Before Texas

USC’s last bowl loss was to Utah in 2001.

That was Utah’s 2nd win in their current 8 bowl winning streak.

USC would be my fourth choice after the SEC champion, Texas and the SEC runner up. Boise State is #5.

I like your top three, but I disagree vehemently about Boise State. Mid-Major Championship 2009 would have low national ratings, likely a large number of empty seats and no chance to gain a lot of real national credibility for either TCU or Boise. TCU and Boise have played eachother twice in bowl games over the past several years, and as nice as it would be to have a rubber match, I would hate to see them as TCU’s opponent in any BCS game other than the title game.

by HawkeyedFrog on Nov 12, 2009 8:01 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

that year for USC

Was also the last time USC lost more then two games.

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 12, 2009 6:17 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Ga Tech

A long shot, because the Orange Bowl does not want TCU, and most likely will take Cincy again or possibly Okie State or a miracle second Big 10 team

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 12, 2009 6:18 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Penn State has inexplicably not fallen nearly as much after two losses as Iowa did after one, so if Iowa loses to Ohio State, Penn State could be in line for a Fiesta Bowl matchup with TCU. I wouldn’t like the matchup much though, it would just lead to more dismissive “The Big 10 is terrible” talk and it wouldn’t get us as much cred as beating down ’bama or Florida in the Sugar bowl, or USC in the Fiesta.

by HawkeyedFrog on Nov 14, 2009 4:18 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

agreed

I am just tired of boring football teams like Penn State getting into BCS games. Their alleged spread offense is a lie, their defense is good, but thats it. I did not look at the BCS standings as closely but I think the BCS would rather have Oklahoma State in the Fiesta rather then Penn State. Partly because of the conference tie, and OSU is a more fun team to watch.

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 14, 2009 7:36 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

tcu would crush penn state. at least they are a school everbody knows about

suc em university got pounded by stanford. they are currently in 5th place in the pac-ten. utah will goto the vegas bowl and hopefully get them. they beat them 10-6 the last time they played. it will be worse this time.

Texas and Cincinnati need to lose so TCU can play the SEC champion in the NCG.

could happen. texas will most likely play nebraska in big 12 cg

nebraska can play defense. tcu has beaten three ranked teams. texas has beaten one. did you see how espn compared two schools that had question marks above them. then they went through stats and wins vs ranked teams. i thought it was tcu and boise but they turned over the ? mark and it was tcu and texas. tcu had better stats and wins. peace.

Big rival and has beaten UT two of three

by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 16, 2009 5:07 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

a&m looked awful vs okie 65-10

i’m banking on nebraska. i even wrote a post to the cornhuskers telling them that k-state should be an easy win and they goto big 12 cg and beat texas. nebraska has defense. they had 8 turnovers in that game vs isu and still only allowed 9 points to iowa state. their defense should get a medal for that. rice university could have scored 21 points with 8 turnovers. i think nebraska can do it and so do there bloggers and fans.

True

after tcu goes 12-0 there has been talk if cincy goes 12-0 they would play each other

i could live with that. tcu is much better than cincy and giving a team it’s only loss of the season is always a good thing. plus the big east is the conference which we need to beat to show we deserve an aq bcs bid. utah has never lost to a big east team. this scenario only counts if we don’t make the ncg with a little help from nebraska and pitt.

texas plays texas a&m on thanxgiving

i rather them win that game then lose to nebraska in final game. if it happened the other way around they would fall behind tcu then go ahead of them when or if they beat nebraska. i can only think that texas could lose only one game and that is against nebraska. texas a&m gave up 65 points to okie. not a good sign. nebraska is giving up 10.3 points a game. number 1 in the nation. i think the cornhuskers can do it. plus lets have pitt lose to wvu and thn beat cincy and we are set. plus it screws over boise state since the sec, big ten and depending on the outcomes of final 2 weeks the big 12 okie state beats okie taht means boise state is left out completely. they would be begging to get into the mwc then. 25-1 and that only loss to tcu and all they have to show for it is a possible win over byu. lmfao!

yes they do!!

I will be rooting for the Ags they are 5-1 at home and have won 2 of 3 from Texas. This would smash the door open for TCU to get to the title game. Lets just see if the voters would feel the same.
