Turkey Bowl Open Thread: #3 Texas @ Texas A&M
This game has a huge impact on the BCS title and if that is a BIG IF Texas A&M can somehow beat the Longhorns that opens the door for TCU to get to the BCS title game. The Aggies have won two of three in this series and are 5-1 at home. Texas is the favorite and shoud win, but this rivalry game has had some interesting outcomes so do not count out the Aggies. Well, unless they are down three touchdowns in the first half. If that happens down some more turkey or check out the only other football night cap with the NFL game between the New York Giants against the Denver Broncos.
For more info about this game go check out Burnt Orange Nation and I am The 12th Man as each talk about this game. This game is on ESPN and ESPN 360 and since this is the only college football game no reason to not at least check it out.

Nice play Ags
Is this really going to happen!

Given Texas's track record of slow starts and hot second halves,
I’m pessimistic for this game, but hey. A&M has done it before when it seemed impossible.
I might pop in and out on occasion, but I’ll read through for perspective later either way.

21-21 maybe a second half surge for the aggies to beat the longhorns
yes i am obsessive, obnoxious, in your face and all about covering the spread. those are my good qualities.

That'd be cool.
A&M is doing a lot better this year than I thought they would. And they’re at home. Who knows?

why do i get this feeling that a&m will be playing cathup the rest of the game.
they need one big pick six on defense when they blitz mccoy to win the game in 4th quarter. if the defense does not get a score texas will win. even if texas beats them just by a td that still means they would lose some more points i would think to tcu. nebraska defense will put up a much bigget test than a&m’s

28-21
I think the Ags may come close but wolfmanshowlforever may be right that the Aggies will be playing catchup. It would be sweet if they do win.

now i'm just hoping for a close score
only good thing about this game is mccoy will win heisman b/c of this game and not the over-rated mark ingram whose stats don’t measure up to toby gerhart’s.

A&M has already done better than anybody anticipated.
If they can tighten things up on defense, this may yet happen.

a pick six would be nice

a&m they disapoint 90% of the time.

That should probably be the game, though.
TCU needs more than the spread.
by Hooper on Nov 26, 2009 8:01 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
yep but nebraska's defense gives up only 10.2 a game. they won't miss the tackles
that a&m are missing.

It's basically TCU's last hope.
Unless the SEC games go really wonky this weekend.

missed tackles
story of this game. But Aggies just got a huge first down.

let's just score another td and hopefully the defense can get a turnover

they'll break at least 1100 yards of combined offense tonight.
and at this pace, it’ll be over 1200

Aggies
Have a shot with that 15 yard late hit.

no kidding
look for the onside after they score

geez
game over. How do you miss that FG.
by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 26, 2009 8:31 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
That's one place where I agree with the NFL: the hashmarks should be in further.
There’s no reason that a field goal attempt should get more difficult as you get closer. That was a bad angle for a FG.

dan beebe called and told a&m coach have his fg kicker miss it.. game over at least i covered the spread

If someone had told you to both cover the spread and take the over, would you have?

rarely do parlays. i go under alot if it's bad weather. constant rain nebraska/mizzou game
or ice cold tcu/ airforce.

Texas
Has problems. Even though Nebraska has a good defense, but they have zero offense to challenge the Horns. Plus the Big XII game is in Dallas, Texas

I'm convinced that TCU is the best team in the state.
by Hooper on Nov 26, 2009 8:35 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
hopefully some more voters in texas and around the nation agree.
texas defense was quite bad. tcu would smash texas. i’m going to read dallas and fort worth papers tomorrow to see what they are saying.

That missed field goal is irrelevant right now.
Unless A&M would have recovered an onsides kick, they never would have seen the ball.
by Hooper on Nov 26, 2009 8:36 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
It would have given them a shot
Not saying they would have tied it but the missed field goal left them zero chance instead of a small chance to tie.
by Jeremy Mauss on Nov 26, 2009 8:37 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
That's true.
They would at least have been able to attempt an onsides.

Conundrum for Boise:
If Nebraska beats Texas, then Texas will get an at-large BCS berth. But if Nebraska absolutely drills Texas, Boise has a very slim shot at getting up to #4 which, if TCU were #2, would guarantee a BCS berth for them.

Boise
If things go as planned. There are 2 at large spots up for grabs one is going to Penn State/Iowa (I think PSU) then it will come down to Boise, Oklahoma State if they beat OU, and then Pitt or Cincy depending who wins next week. I think the Fiesta will want Oklahoma State to replace Texas. Then the Big 10 school will go to the Orange Bowl leaving Boise out.

boise has no chance at bcs at large bid. i explained it on another thread
the bcs had an article about how they are still looking at usc and lsu. teams with three losses. read between the lines either penn state or iowa with two losses gets the last bid or maybe clemson beats g.t in cg and both acc teams go to. boise is left out in the cold. same goes if pitt beats cincy. boise is still left out. think they want in the mwc now. 25 -1 and nothing to show for it.

actually nebraska beating texas is great for tcu but the deathclutch for boise
two big 12 teams go. two sec teams go and two big 10 teams go.

face it the bcs was designed for the so called big boys to collect the big paychecks
the writing is on the wall. i wish boise could be in the bcs bowl too but what i read today tells me the fix is in.

I'm not sure.
Alabama’s defense is pretty well built to stop Florida’s offense. The 3-4 has always been harder for Florida to break through, and Alabama’s front seven is the best 3-4 they’ll face. At the moment, I actually like Alabama a little bit better in that game.
by Hooper on Nov 26, 2009 9:53 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
That kickoff return TD was the absolute backbreaker. The Aggies fight tooth and nail to get within three, then without their D even setting foot on the field they’re back down by 10. That’s enough to take the wind out of the O’s sails and end the game right there.
