The Colorado State Rams are now 3-2 on the young season after their recent win over the Mayville State Comets 79-42. Before that they lost on the road to Indiana State 65-60 in a game that had no business being close in. On the 29th they will take on the San Francisco Dons in another good match up to see where they are at before conference play starts.
So far this season the theme is that the Rams will only go as far as the guards take them. In their loss to Indiana State Harvey Perry was 2-11 shooting and Dorian Green went 7-17 as the team shot 39% overall. In the win against Mayville State Dorian Green shot a slick 8-11 and had a game high 17 points. Harvey Perry did not play and is shooting a poor 25% this year. The thing they have been able to rely on is Andre McFarland coming off the bench and give a scoring boost as their 6th man.
The Rams are still turning the ball over to much as they are running a 1/1.6 turnover to assist ratio. They have out rebounded their opponents 40.6 to 36 per game this year which they will need to continue to do as they are not good enough to give up 2nd and third chances and not create some of their own. Andy Ogide and Travis Franklin are averaging over two offensive rebounds a game so far.
Currently they sit at the bottom of the Mountain West in points per game, field goal %, but are second in 3-point %. The field goal % is a bit troubling but they have only played one game at the friendly confines of Moby Arena and they shot over 50% in that game.
