Week 12 Blogpoll: Late Edition
The Blogpoll is set up by MGoBlog and is a collection of bloggers who actually watch the games, which is more then what the coaches, AP, or Harris poll voters can say. The poll is so respected that CBS Sports is behind the poll and it is posted along side the polls that actually count. Here is an explanation of the Blog poll from Brian himself.
I rectified the mistake of not having Oregon State in the poll, so they get to enter the poll at the 17 spot. At the top Florida switch with Alabama because the Tide played FCS non-challenger Chattanooga and Florida played lowly Sun Belt team Florida International.
Yes I moved BYU ahead of Utah partly because BYU defeated an Air Force opponent which was better then Utah's foe San Diego State.
Let me know what you all think. Is this even close?

it's great you have a nine win temple team at 24 and navy at 25
might give some love to central michigan too. your absolutely correct in leaving out usc too. i pretty much guarantee they will lose to either ucla or arizona. in the harris poll tcu did get three #1 votes.

I think your top 2 are backwards.
My top 4 looks like this:
Alabama
TCU
Florida
Texas

A couple of thoughts.
I think Oklahoma State should be lower after struggling with Colorado. Temple has three losses, so I’m not sure they belong, but I guess they’ve looked good lately. I think Iowa and Penn State are both too high, but I’m glad you put Iowa ahead since they have the same record and beat PSU head-to-head. I’d put Clemson a little higher myself.

Temple has two losses
And are on a 9 game winning streak.

Sorry
Sorry, but TCU shouldn’t be anywhere above #4. They simply have not played the same quality schedule as the other 3 teams.
I do think they are worthy and would give a good game to any of the top 3 teams. But the only way you can give TCU such a high ranking is to have double standards.
No it's not.
Texas has played one team in the top 25 (OSU). Florida has played one (LSU). Alabama has played three (VA Tech, Ole Miss, LSU). If you’re arguing that the crap in Florida’s schedule is stronger than the crap in TCU’s schedule, who cares? Top teams beat up on crap. So you should only be worried about the top teams on the schedule, the ones that conceivably can beat another top team.
Oh, TCU has 3 (Utah, BYU, Clemson). And one of those looks like they’re going to win the ACC.
Of course, we could go by Sagarin SOS:
Florida: 51
Alabama: 41
TCU: 60
Texas: 56
Yeah, that’s a massive difference. Is TCU on the bottom? Yes, four places behind Texas and 9 behind Florida. Great schedules those guys have.
And of course, if everyone has an average schedule then you maybe should look at margin of victory:
UF: 38-10 (28 pt wins)
AL: 32-10 (22 pt wins)
TX: 42-13 (29 pt wins)
TCU: 40-13 (27 pt wins)
Seems pretty equal. So schedule is equal, teams are playing equally (TCU doesn’t have any close calls or ref bailouts like UF or Alabama, but I guess we don’t have to worry about that). TCU deserves to be playing in the title game as much as anyone else, but they’re not in the big boy conference so they won’t get the chance. But if you were basing in purely on results, TCU deserves it as much as anyone.

Too bad you have such a huge glaring bias.
It’s the same old story. TCU fans pretending the season consists of 3 games in order to make their cases.
However, the reason why TCU’s schedule is so weak is because of who they play outside those games. Between the “3” games mentioned for TCU, there is always 2 or more games between them against teams that wouldn’t even make the top 50.
Meanwhile, the SEC has 10 teams with above .500 records. All 10 of them would make the top 50, some of them are hanging just outside the top 25.
And while people can sit here and claim the SEC isn’t all that, they proved this past weekend they were. As BOTH teams going for the ACC championship were beat by below average SEC teams(below average for the SEC anyway).
But when Florida or Alabama plays those teams, oh they are just weak right?
You have lost your mind to claim that TCU has played a schedule anywhere near the toughness of the others.
Everyone else knows it too, so it doesn’t really matter if you admit it or not. TCU is #4 in most polls, for exactly the reasons I mention.
Oh, and I got bad news for you TCU fans. If Cincy beats Pittsburgh this week, you can kiss the #4 spot goodbye too, unless you happen to manage the spot away from the loser of the SEC championship. Like it or not though, Cincy will jump you in the polls if they win. You want to know why? Strength of Schedule. Because Cincy’s schedule is also tougher than TCU’s – although it is atleast closer.
LMFAO
Who has Florida played? ONE top 25 team? A crappy overrated LSU team that lost to Mississippi? Who has Texas played? Another crappy overrated OSU team? Give me a break.

Oh wait
I guess it would be too tough to actually LOOK at the schedules instead of just buying into the propaganda. The only reason Florida is #1 is because they started the season there based on a subjective arbitrary guess based on bias and propaganda. Wow, that must make them real good.

TCU is a good team, and is deserving
Which is why TCU fans should be screaming for a playoffs, rather than all this nonsense about pretending schedules consist of 3 games. They have proven to me they are a tough football team, and could give any of the top teams a good game. The same can be said of Boise St. as well.
But with the current BCS format, only the top 2 teams get to play in the NCG. And when you have to decide who those top 2 teams are, then the strength of schedule is the only fair measure. And I am sorry, but TCU has come up short in that category.
I’m all in favor of a playoff, and think it’s downright stupid college football doesn’t have one. In such a format, TCU gets the chance they deserve. In the current format, if you put TCU in that game, then you have only managed to screw over a more deserving team.
They are all good teams, but we are stuck dealing with the system we have. And in that system, TCU is the less deserving team, but still deserving which is why it should be an argument for playoffs, rather than trying to game the current system – which isn’t going to work anyway.
Laugh while you can, because you'll be crying when reality hits.
LSU has 3 total losses. 2 of which came against the top 2 teams in the country. The Ole Miss lose was due to poor clock management at the end of the game, and should have been a win. Goes down in the history books as a loss, but the voters know the deal. Where do you see LSU ranked at this week? Yeah, that’s right.
But again it’s just double standards and bias from MWC and TCU fans. Oh yeah, you wanna jump all over LSU as being over-rated.
Hows that 8-4 Clemson looking now that S.Carolina put them away? Oh yeah, but lets dis on LSU as being over-rated. Same S.Carolina team Florida beat.
Or how about that BYU who lost to Florida St? You know, the same Florida St that Florida beat this week? But yeah, LSU is the joke because it lost to Miss, and the top 2 teams in the country.
Atleast with Utah all their losses are against solid opponents. BYU, TCU and Oregon. And Utah’s schedule is also tougher than TCU’s.
Who are you going to name as TCU’s 4th best win? I’ll wait for you to admit it’s Air Force. A 7-5 team, probably ranking near the bulk of the SEC. The bulk of the SEC that Florida had to play week in and week out.
Not to mention that in order for Florida to make it to the BCS game, they have to beat the #2 team in the country, or for Alabama they have to beat the #1 team in the country.
As for Texas, if you think Oklahoma’s record is an accurate reflection of that team, then you are sadly mistaken. The games they have lost have been mostly against top ranked teams, and even then they have yet to lose a game by more than 7 points outside the Texas Tech game.
So who does Texas have? Texas Tech – top 30 team. Oklahoma, Missouri – top 30 team. Ok.St. – top 25 team. And an upcoming game with Nebraska – a top 25 team.
That’s right TCU and MWC fans – while only the top 25 teams are published, that doesn’t mean everyone outside the top25 is equal.
Really?
They have played 3 teams in the current top 25. None of the top teams can match that with Florida and Alabama have one apiece and will get a second in the SEC title game.
