Weekly Look at the Polls: Only changes Occur at the Bottom

Nothing really changes this week in the polls TCU did gain two points in the polls while Cincinnati gained five. This is all trivial and only matters if any of the top three lose this weekend in their rivalry game or Texas falls in the Big XII title game against Nebraska. The Harris Poll gave TCU a slight advantage over Cincinnati but like mentioned above it means little unless there is a loss.

BYU makes a good size jump from 18th to 15th and if they are to defeat Utah in the Holy War which has been a close game for each of the past six times with the only exception being in 2004 and 2008. A Cougar win will at least put BYU in the at-large pool for the BCS. They will not get chosen but if they are in the top 14 that is a good accomplishment for a non-BCS school to be with two losses.

Utah on the other hand moved up to 19 from 23 with their dominating win over San Diego State. All the movement for Utah is to help the league possibly obtain a BCS auto berth.

Nothing really else to out of the ordinary in the polls. the BCS polls come out early today since Fox NFL has only the early game so look for those in about two hours. Once those are out we will dive into a closer look to see if the cupcakes Florida and Alabama played chance their position.

The Harris poll is out as well with TCU gaining two more first place votes giving them three to date. BYU is 15th and Utah is 19th.

there is no chance byu will get an at large berth. even if they were to beat utah which won't happen

boise state is going 13-0. we are not even sure if boise at 13-0 is going. best scenario is utah beating byu and going to vegas bowl to beatdown the trojans. i give nebraska a great shot at beating texas. their defense is allowing 10.8 per game. that is third best in the nation but i consider them first since both florida and bama had two cupcakes on schedule. florida gave up combined 6 points to fiu and college of charleston and bama shutout powerhouse chatanooga and north texas i think scored 6 points.

yes i am obsessive, obnoxious, in your face and all about covering the spread. those are my good qualities.

I know

but there is a chance they will be eligible which is a good thing as it takes away a spot from possibly Virginia Tech or a second Big East team like Pitt if they lose to Cincy.

would you not want utah at 11-2 then byu at 9-4

byu will disappoint in their bowl game again. i’ve heard some rumblings if boise does not get a bcs bowl bid they would pit them vs byu. can you say fsu all over again. i trust utah’s defense and pride in their bowl winning streak then byu’s offense.
