Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson was on 1280 The Zone in Salt Lake to talk about the league as well as the BCS with TCU who is on their way to a money game.
One of the most interesting news out of this was that Dish Network is probably never going to get The Mtn on their network. He said Dish plays hard ball and mentioned that the YES Network which is the New York Yankees network is not even on Dish and that has been on for seven year. He said there is a small glimmer of hope because they have a new CEO, but Thompson is not confident.
The other interesting thing is that Comcast is most likely going to buy GE which owns NBC Universal sometime next week. The reason that is a big deal is because NBC Universal would spin off with Comcast who would now own 51% of the new company. A note within that deal could possibly lead to Mountain West games on NBC, because of the new company that would all ready include Versus and The Mtn and then now NBC sports. The odds of that are a long shot, but it is a possibility.
